Yeah don't get me wrong, X (Twitter) is still garbage fire trash that I'm glad I deactivated my account on. The community notes though have been consistent though when it comes to catching fake news. There was probably only 2 times, out of many, I found the community notes to be inaccurate but it was easily fixed in minutes or hours.

Since the Fantastic Four are all White, I imagine Doctor Doom will be played by a Person of Color.

That's not a complaint, just a prediction. Latveria is a fictional country, so it's peoples can look however the studio wishes them to.

Black people existed in 1963. Quite a few of them were fighting for a good cause.

That said, it doesn't make sense that Fantastic Four would be set in the 60s. Superheroes were revealed to the world in real time as the movies unfolded. Then they retroactively put Captain Marvel in the 1990s. Now, four astronauts from the 1960s are turned into superheroes and the world still doesn't here of superheroes for three or four decades?

Have we gotten to a point where it's automatically regarded as racist / anti-woke for a White protagonist to fight a Person of Color antagonist?

If anything, it would present opportunities for "wokeness" since you would have a non-Anglo Saxon individual in the 1960s putting the world on notice with his scientific mastery and military might. He could be part Iron Man, part Killmonger.

Maybe they disappear and there's a time skip.

It also doesn't overly matter. The actual real world in the MCU is completely irrelevant the far majority of the time. There's no real sense of what life is supposed to be in that world.

IDK like am I crazy to think they are stepping into a minefield with a 1963 date? It's the most politically charged post-WWII decade of the 20th century. The magazine Thing is holding is the issue one month after the Kennedy assassination in November. And the decade is fetishized by MAGA as when America was "great" and what we must return to.

They have to address some of that or it will feel weird and disappointing.

The MCU has gotten political before.

This is the period the most recent Indiana Jones movie was set in. That film addressed the contributions of Black soldiers in World War II. There was a little bit of commentary as well in that the veteran in question was working as a busser. That's hardly the way that a nation's heroes should be treated.

Other than that, the only other Black person in the movie was a villain who was killed mid-film by the Nazis that she collaborated with. That felt weirdly out of place. I think Fantastic Four will do a little bit better, but who knows?

They might do commentary. They might play things safe.

I wouldn't be surprised if they found an excuse to have Sue mention that she dated a Black guy before she met Reed. Or they might have Johnny date a Black woman who dresses in 1960s fashions.

That might be the extent of what they do with the time period the film is set in. Reed is a professor, right? There will probably be a student in a dashiki somewhere on the campus. Not an important character. Just a walk-on extra to give a shoutout to anyone who knows what his attire signifies.

Idk but like it's 1963. Even just 1965 would be the same time period but a way calmer moment, even with the vietnam protest movement.

The Thing actor was Punishers tech guy sidekick in season 1 which is substantial because he was a lead character.

Iron Man 1 was right-leaning though. It's actually kinda old-school propaganda.

The US is slapping the dogshit out of terrorists -- thanks in part to American industrialist Tony Stark. Once Stark is betrayed, and taken down with his own weaponry, he builds an iron suit in a cave right under the noses of his captors.

The terrorists don't have the brains to match us. They don't have the muscle to match us. Even when one of our own is gifted to them, he still finds a way to best them. The only danger we could possibly have is the threat of betrayal from greedy businessmen who will sell out this country's best interests for money. (Sadly prophetic, really.)

It's the kind of film that you would have seen in World War 2. Just substituting the terrorists for Nazis. Even Indiana Jones had a little bit of that going on. "They haven't one brain among them. Well, there is one. A Frenchman whom they call Bellosh."

Did you missed the part that Tony realized that the war was caused by his company's warmongering?
Heck they literally slapped it in your face with Stane's suit called the Iron Monger (Ironman + Warmonger).

I don't believe the name Iron Monger was ever spoken in the movie. That's what he's called in the comics, isn't it? Tony's journey was more "I've been kind of an asshole" than any major league "Are we the baddies?"

No Ironman one was not right leaning. Tony's went from a pro-war profiteer to someone who was against the selling of weapons and didn't care that it would hurt his company and turn his back stabbing business partner away from him.

Being agianst terrorists isn't a right-wing stance.
