You are illustrating my point.
Bigots usually don't know they're bigots because their prejudices make sense to them.

Because criticism of Israel's government is what makes up the vast majority of the "antisemitism" that people are claiming is increasing. As soon as discussions about the general trend rather than the specific incident came up, that became a very relevant point.

No its not. Antisemitism is antisemitism. Its been around for centuries. You can sugar coat it all you want, but the fact remains is that people arent drawing swastikas on federation buildings or writing kanye was right about the Jews or calling for a second holocaust because of what is going on in Gaza.

That would be like blaming racism against blacks on black on black crime. People were racist well before that. And they are still racist even towards people who do not engage in that kind of a behavior.

I don't think I've ever belonged to a synagogue, JCC, hebrew school, etc. that wasn't frequently vandalized with anti Jewish messages and symbolism. But yea, this new gfaq thesis; if you criticize Israel you can't be antisemetic, is obviously born from insight, and the people saying it definitely don't get uneasy when they hear the word "Jew" or see people in traditional Jewish clothes.

When you say "antisemitism is antisemitism" are you saying any criticism of Israel's actions makes you an anti-Semite?

The fact that any discussion of the measurable, documented increase in anti-Semitic incidents is immediately dismissed as being critical of Israel is part of the fucking problem.

What are some of the documented anti-Semitic incidents by the far left that didn't involve criticism of Israel?

No. That is not what either of us is saying, and your immediate knee-jerk strawman response being "Oh, so any criticism of Israel's actions makes you an anti-Semite?" only emphasizes how dismissive the left is about anti-Semitism.

That's why I was asking FlyEagles for clarification, as he started his post with that statement. I asked what you meant by examples of increased anti-Semitism that weren't connected to criticism of Israel because I thought that's what your post was stating?

This was my first post in this topic, I'm sorry if I missed an explanation/example in reading through it.

We're literally in a topic about one such incident, unless bashing someone's head in is "legitimate criticism" now.

It's pretty obvious what he's saying. Antisemitism is antisemitism regardless if Israel is the topic or not.

As an aside, when Israel is in the news people become more vocal about their prejudices. Antisemitic dialogue goes up. I know it's hard for the bigots here to recognize, because othering Jews makes sense to them, but lots of people show all kinds biases against Jewish people when they discuss Israel. They usually don't know it, and say shit like the idiots in this thread say.

Who are you calling bigots here again? As if Israel apologists totally don't have a history of conflating actual antisemitism with criticism of the State of Israel. And you seem to be oblivious to the fact that many anti-Zionists and pro-Palestine protesters themselves are Jews.

Not one of your comments relates to anything I said. Not even remotely. Protestors? Fucking hell. You're like a fish that doesn't know it's wet.

Not even remotely.

Antisemitism, like basically any form of racism, can come in a few forms. Theres the classic demonization of the individual .Like in this topic where a Jewish guy got hit in the head with a bat for being Jewish. Theres the double standard - where some people are allowed to get away with things, and others are not, or dismissing legitimate grievances because of something else. Theres also the stereotypes and collective blaming of the whole group for the actions or beliefs of some. Jews killed Jesus or Jews control the banks are classic examples of this type of antisemitism.

And some argue that Anti Zionism is antisemitic, because its different than being critical of Israels government. Theres a difference between saying Israel doesnt have a right to exist, and saying Israels current government or policies are acting in a way that you dont approve of. However, there is some division on this idea, because Anti Zionism could simply be another form of Anti Imperialism or colonialism. (Although when people go this route, to avoid the double standard they have to be consistent and be in opposition to all colonial activities at least in the 20th century, if not for all time.)

So its not antisemitic at all to be critical of the Israeli government, just like its not Anti America to be critical of our government. You get warmer once you question Israels right to exist however, and you basically out yourself as a racist prick when you resort to those demonizations, double standards, or collective blaming that I referred to. Criticism of a government is a universal right of all people.

Hope this helps.

Well since my post got deleted . . . If somebody says antisemitism has been on the rise since Oct 7, and your response is to criticize Israel, which is in no way a response to the point being made; or to use logic that suggests criticizing Israel and having biases against Jews can't overlap, you're almost certainly a closeted antisemite. You don't recognize the very real prejudices for what they are, because they make sense to you. If you think you're more enlightened than say, people who are uncomfortable around gay people or other minorities; you aren't.

Considering how fucking violent and dangerous he is, $50,000 bail is a damn joke, that's a $5000 bail bond.
Sounds like he should've been in jail already, but NYC is gonna NYC...
