Money is after taxes and there will be no issues.

80% off is a magical coupon that can never be lost, that automatically grants you 80% off anything and everything you buy, no matter what. You do not have to show the coupon, nor type anything related to it in online, nor can it ever be stolen or otherwise be lost or taken away from you befoee you die. It is yours until the day that you die, and then it disappears. No one will hurt you over it or attempt to steal it. At worst, you might occasionally get someone who complains that it's unfair, or that they are loosing a large amount of money due to you. (They will always be honest how much they are loosing and how much that hurts them if you inquire)

*You can sell the things that you buy with this 80% off with one caveat: You must sell it yourself. You can not hire or have anyone sell it for you, help you sell it, create a company to sell it, or anything like that. You can get get information, tips, and so on before selling it, but no one else can participate in the actual sale unless they are legally required to for some reason.

So they're losing a large amount of money because of me, but somehow won't try to do me harm?

I mean, if you buy stocks at 80% off and then sell them for their real worth, isn't this an infinite money glitch?

4 mil is more then enough for me to coast on for the rest of my life without ever having to work again. Sure I could earn way more money with the coupon, but that still involves working.

Does the 80% discount include stocks and real estate? Anyone can buy and sell stock, and having the ability to sell at 4-5x the price you just bought it for... can obviously generate millions of dollars a day, assuming you don't get arrested for it.

I would take the 80% in a heart beat. Give me a year, I would take that and turn it into a lot more than 5 million easy.

Start by buying up gift cards and what not and completely undercut the market until I make enough money to flip my first house and its all she wrote.

Think of me as a modern day Mansa Musa. Id crash the economy so hard. Since I cant be prosecuted, or hurt or whatever, the possibilities are endless.

And I wouldnt have to do it for very long. Id retire a billionaire in about five years, and then Id just rely on the fact that I can go on vacations anywhere I want on 80% discount.

80% off everything easily. House, vehicle, potential medical bills alone are worth that. Not to mention how cheap travel would be.

Yes it does. No, You will not get arrested or in any kind of trouble.

However, you should keep in mind that real money is being lost on everything that you're buying for 80% off. For instance, buying a house for 80% off could easily bankrupt someone who's not so well off. The stock market will also feel that 80% off to some effect depending on how active you are with that.

Yeah, to their credit the people choosing money recognize they could make far more with the discount, they're just ready to drop out of working and retire, which I can respect.

I'd think most people could quit their jobs immediately or within days with the coupon. Start with flipping smaller things as a third party seller and go bigger as the money rolls in. Sites like Amazon will do the shipping. Then find a real estate agent and let them handle the big stuff.

$4 million would be nice to live on comfortably until death. But not as fun as being super rich.

The coupon basically quintuples my net worth, which is still a lot less than 4 million, so the money is better in that regard.

However, the coupon could be used as a wealth transfer tool, Robin Hood style, if I buy stuff from giant corporations, and sell to others cheaply.

Coupon sounds more fun.

80% off. Even if its one sided and you can't resell anything for more than you paid, your still coming up on top. You don't need millions of dollars to survive, and all that money comes with downsides. Suddenly you have people showing up at your doorstep begging for money. An 80% discount means that if you usually spend 2k a month, that's only 400 now. Your living off of less than 5 grand a year. And who knows how much 4m dollars will be worth in 20 years. It'll still be worth a bit, but not as much as it is now.

And I mean, a 400k house for 80k? that gives a lot of freedom to modernize your home with the best appliances and furniture.

I'll add more limits for myself; no generating passive interest from the $4 million and I can't use the coupon to flip assets. It's too easy otherwise.

Looking at it that way, it's the choice between taking $4 million now or effectively quintupling your income. At that point it depends on how soon you'll get more dollar value from the coupon, how much you like your job, and if you really think you'll need/want more than $4 million.
I'd take the money.
