Isn't Chipotle management also super shitty? I remember hearing stories about employees being berated for giving just a little bit too much meat or too much rice and beans. I like the taste of Chipotle's food, but they've been one of the worst examples of shrink inflation combined with inflating prices on top of stories about their management so I generally try to avoid them nowadays. I mean understand being stingy on meat but rice and beans are stupid cheap "fillers".

Paying workers enough money to live is woke, gay socialism.

They're already overpriced. When they started their prices were reasonable, cuz you got a good amount for it. Now they skimp on you and prices increased already. This will just price them out like all the other fast food.

Theyre already charging $14 for half the amount of food they used to put in the bowl or burrito and the quality has gone way down

so many better options I dont know who is still going there especially when there are so many great local places all over the place here

It's like when Papa John's whined about Obamacare and claimed they had to mark up items by $2 but when this was investigated it would have been an average of a 15 cent increase per item to maintain their profit margin.

And people ate that up too.

Yep. People have also continuously pointed out that wages stagnated for years despite the prices of everything going up. Yet somehow it's wage increases that are driving up prices

not to mention how much the quality of their food has deteriorated in the last several years

Chipotle has a policy of getting non-gmo foods. Non gmo does cost more for obvious reasons though I'm not quite sure to what degree this could explain the price increases. Though to be fair opposing GMO foods isn't necessarily a left vs right issue though it does seem to correlate a bit. Its sort of a weird political mapping at this point. The position of left leaning people overall could be described as "believe the science..... except when it comes to organic food in which case believe that science = cancer"

Yeah, I try to avoid getting sucked into debates with those guys, but they're so damn persistent in pushing this "remedy" that it's hard. They completely ignore, or are unaware of the fact that most of the regulations they rail against were put in place because people were being badly exploited.

but at 72b market cap, i'm led to wonder whether chipotle's real value is in its real estate similar to mcdonalds

with that said, its p/e ratio is disgustingly high

This feels weird to me being from the Denver metro area. Chipotle was founded here by a guy from California and he moved the HQ to California back in 2018. One of my buddies at work's girlfriend lost her job because she worked for Chipotle corporate and didn't want to move with the HQ.
