Most health benefit circumcision gives is practically null and void when you live in a first world country with easy access to water and hygiene. I will say, the only continent I know of that actually benefits from circumcision is probably the city areas of Africa where hygiene and water access is a luxury. For first world countries like the US, circumcision is primarily a cosmetic thing which should be a choice and not something to take bodily autonomy away from a person. And I say this as someone who is circumcised because my parents were first generations immigrants and had no idea what it meant other than the doctor telling them "it will make the baby cleaner and healthier".

Which is unironically what a lot of cultures that practice FGM believe, only applied at an older age. Most of them truly think it's in the girl's best interest in terms of health.

And it's somewhat ironic that people are touting penis and cervix cancer prevention as a health benefit comparable to vaccines when both of those are almost completely eliminated with the HPV vaccine. Certain oral cancers as well, if I remember correctly.

You're securing protection against future health issues in both cases. It's really not that radical of a stance. It's surprising to me that some people are so resistant to the fact that circumcision is a common and well-understood preventative medical procedure that has hygiene and health benefits.

It's highly suspect that countries with low to nonexistent circumcision rates aren't being plagued with a pandemic of dick cancer. It's almost as if the health benefits are minimal or even entirely made up.

Suggesting amputation as a preventative measure as being akin to a vaccine is pure idiocy, it's among the most stupid things I've ever seen on this board and that's saying something.

My mother who is a labor and delivery nurse tells me that a lot of parents choose to circumsize because they're not willing to pull their childs foreskin back to clean the penis properly.

of course, if there was a possibility they could contract the illness(es) they were being vaccinated for.

there are a lot of other vaccines that we, people living in developed, western countries, forgo, though, and don't have to worry about unless if we're traveling to areas where those illnesses are a factor.

I say that to say, I would not vaccinate my kids for stuff like, Yellow Fever, for example, unless if it was necessary.

If you can't find the comparison between one preventative measure and another, I don't see why we're even having this debate. Obviously, you can find a hundred ways to differentiate vaccines from circumcision, but the end goal is to improve health outcomes and quality of life for your children.

Vaccines are well understood. Circumcision is well understood. Both come with significant benefits to the recipient's health, and both are best done while young.

I feel like the comparison is being stretched out and picked apart because you're missing the most fundamental point of the comparison: they're both medical treatments that improve quality of life and are best done at an age too young for informed consent.

Once the world hears that people on a video game sites social board dont approve, laws will be changed.

This is a misconception. Being circumcised doesn't mean you can't do this.

yes circumcision is mutilation, i don't get why people get up in arms about the female genital mutilation thing but then act like circumcision in men is something that should be done, it's not it's sick
btw circumcision is only really big in the US and some big religious countries in most of the world it's not really something that is done
and circumcision in the US might be big due to business earning money out of foreskins, not out of concern for health, there's nothing unhealthy about having a foreskin, nothing a bath can't solve

You're not one to talk with the comparisons you were making. False equivalencies.

I really don't think "mutilation" is the right word to describe circumcision. The penis remains fully functional after the procedure, with studies finding that there's no recognizable difference in potency, sensation, etc.

I can agree with this also and admit that the only real reason I am for circumcision is because I prefer the way they look far more.

The part I find most frustrating is that circumcision is becoming a hot topic and is being done less now than before and it's largely because of PC bullshit. Don't overthink it because of woke nonsense, just do your kid a favor and have it done when they're a baby.

Ultimately I wish evolution would hurry up and foreskin would just disappear, now that would be the perfect dick, no scar tissue(though it mostly blends in unless you look for it or it was botched).
