I would like to play actual fully fledged games, and I'm willing to pay. FtP very rarely does it for me

The two I'd support from the other topic this came up:

Super Auto Pets
Vampire Survivors

Both are sort of roguelike/lite rather than gacha.

While I don't know how the mobile ports do, Into the Breach and Slay the Spire also exist. Other people might be able to say if they're any good.

I'll never recommend anything gacha. Gacha is a blight. No, I don't care that you can technically play it free.

FFT was considered but I have to take frequent breaks with phone and I think I read somewhere that it makes you start battles over if you put your phone in sleep

It's a nostalgic throwback to the SNES. It's effectively FF4, 5, and 6 rolled up into a single game. You control two parties switching off between the two as you complete story segments until they eventually converge.

It's even got some post game optional stuff to challenge yourself with.

Yeah they always suck on mobile but for RPGs where you have time to work with them I don't mind them.

Shame the PSP remaster was so shit

I'll do my shilling duty and throw Granblue Fantasy out there. Browser/mobile gacha turn-based RPG (one of the earlier ones, predating stuff like Fate/Grand Order), heavy influence from the FF series since a lot of former FF devs and artists worked on it, very grind heavy but lots of story, especially in the side stories section. There isn't actually a real app for it anymore, but I can help get you started if you're actually interested.

Yes. There's some common jobs and then some jobs that only of the total characters can access. By putting certain jobs on the same character you can also unlock fusion skills. You can't have every character master every job until post game where one of the super bosses you can fight rewards you with more JP so you have to strategize carefully. It's much more challenging than FF5. The post game stuff is super hard.

Siralim Ultimate. Monster acquisition with tons and tons of ways to customize your squad.

Dragon Quests 3 through 8 are all solid.

For card battlers, there's Dawncaster which I heartily recommend (if you've already experienced the greatness that is slay the spire)

I csn control fft on a normal controller quick and easy. The phone controls suck.

Why doesnt it have controller support?

Is Raid any good?

I'm also trying Diablo Immortal and not sure if I like it or not.

It's played via browser. Actually does have its own dedicated browser for maximum efficiency (though non-JP's would have to jump through hoops to get that), but any Chromium browser works.

I've not played the lotr one but the star wars one is far worse than raid
Raid, provided you have a good base team, is solidly F2P. If you roll/luck your way into a higher end clan boss team, you can be effectively F2P forever, b/c highest difficulty clan boss rewards most premium currencies/materials
But those teams require incredibly strict itemization earned over months of grinding

I thought the grinding was fun tbh
It's about getting a drop with "just right" stats, b/c everything is somewhat like FFX and based on which character gets a turn next
In my clan team, my anchor char is 3x faster than the boss (b/c her invincibility is on 3 turn cool down) , and my primary buffer on 2x b/c she buffs the rest of the team
But this requires weird "speed tuning" you have to use external tools to calculate

Really bad. Raid and any turn based pvp RPGs have this thing where the entire meta is completely dominated by whatever the newest character is. And they release a new one every couple weeks.

WRONG

You're gonna need like 8 copies of the character plus spend extra for enhancement materials and shit. Stay away from turn based competitive PVP gacha RPGs at all costs.

From those I think you would like Another Eden. It's a gacha, but it's thematically Chronic Trigger inspired with a complex plot and characters, turn based combat system with a decent amount of moves per character (including moves that activate when you move characters from the back line into the frontine of combat), as well as explorable towns and dungeons. There's this unusual sidescrolling format but you can go forward and backward as well, like 2.5 d exploration and of course the dungeons have maps. NPCs in towns give side quests,etc.

It's one of the most "holy shit this is a real rpg" mobile games I've played.

imo the gacha is generous enough to give you plenty of decent characters to play and very unobtrusive.

It's not grindy anymore, but it's just simply bad. It's all about the gacha and impossible difficulty that requires lots of high end stuffs that you get from years of playing. Probably will get an EoS unde a year.

i once tried raid because i got tricked into trying this app that pays you for playing games. horrible, you think its gonna be an AAA game with all the advertising.

not really
monster strike was the top grossing JP game years in a row
pretty sure it's literally one of the top 5 grossing games of all time, console/PC included
they had a massive US marketing campaign, including TV spots w/ popular celebs at the time

still fell flat on its face a few years in b/c its mechanics werent really congruous w/ US demographics and they closed the US server
