Sony and Nintendo aren't going to let Game Pass on their systems, not when they have their own subscription services (although Nintendo's is just for retro games that could change with their next gen system). It would let Microsoft have too much control over their own ecosystem.

I think this just means that Game Pass will be aimed towards Smart TVs and cloud gaming companies.

It will never be good on PC. To anyone even thinking about buying game pass on pc because you don't have an Xbox, don't. The games are buggy, some of them are outright unplayable. Microsoft puts zero effort into their PC Game Pass. Shell out the extra 50-60 bucks to get a cheap OG Xbox 1 and get game pass on there. It's night and day in the difference. Games on console game pass are actually extremely well put together. Very rarely have I encountered a bug on the console versions.

Yeah, it's probably more a PC focus.

I can't see Sony letting them sell the game pass, and I can't see MS putting the stuff on the Switch.

But what I can see is that MS is interlinking XBox and PC more and more, and is going to sell the hardware for this.

Just close the gap completly, and make the Xbox less a console, and more like a gaming PC.

Put something like the steam deck on top of it, and they cover as many bases they can, with as few seems between it as possible.

No need for crossplay if there is no gap to cross (between Xbox/PC).

EDIT: But what surprises me is that they seem to take a step away from the X-Box brand for their gaming focus, and put Microsoft itself at the front again.

Havent they been pretty open they want gamepass on everything they can?

Makes sense to rename it so they can get it on other consoles and whatever TVs they can.

What if they are about to launch something like a Firestick for tvs. But it's an Xbox in a stick. You plug it into the HDMI slot and use a controller and that's all you need to play gamepass

Nintendo vs Sony now. In theory, this helps Sony more since I assume the alternative for most Xbots is a PlayStation in a world without Xbox.

Not sure why you say that? Ive never had an issue with it. Which games were giving you problems? Are you sure your hardware wasnt the issue?

I mean it's on PC too, so this branding makes more sense even if it's not coming to other consoles. Probably is, though.

Not him, but when I last used the Windows Store (on Windows 8) it was so bad. Applications would get stuck and not download and then that'd cause Windows Update to fail. The only solution was to reinstall Windows.

From then, I swore never to use the Windows Store if I could help it. And the Xbox app uses the Windows Store. I'd be more willing to use it if it was a standalone application and not baked into the operating system.

I know, but it stuck with me as reinstalling Windows is a pain in the ass. I'm sure it's "fine" now but I'd rather not take the risk, personally. I don't know what the other guy's issues with it are but it's probably something to do with Microsoft not understanding their own OS.

How exactly would it not work great on PC? You just download and install the game like you would on any cloud based service like Steam. Now, if you are streaming the games directly from the cloud as you play them then I agree it is trash.

I've played tones of games and only had one that didn't work, it was alien isolation, and the verify account button was blocked by the in-game menu, so it wouldn't let me play. I certainly wouldn't say that makes it worthless.

I used pc version of gamepass to play flight sim, forza 7, and gears 5. Wasnt a fan of them at all so I canceled my gamepass sub

wouldn't be shocked if they expand to at least Playstation and maybe Switch through streaming only, but calling it Microsoft Game Pass also makes perfect sense with it being on Xbox and PC already

I've tried it on 3 pcs, so might just be me. But I literally couldn't play Super Lucky Tale as the character kept getting stuck in the ground anytime you picked up an object. Forager in windowed mode played at 10x game speed, and Code Vein kept centering the mouse to the screen everytime I touched my 360 controller. These are just the ones I remember off the top of my head.

I know that I'm not the only one that has had these issues, and its not like I was running with bad equipment at the time. 2070s 16 gigs of ddr4 ram and 1 gig internet. I'll happily be wrong. I enjoy using game pass. But compared to even my XB1 game pass it was night and day. Super Lucky Tale actually ran on my xb game pass.
