I wish i was reading when dose chapters came out to see everyones reaction online lol, everyone must have been going crazy

It was pretty nuts and a lot of sadness going around mixed with fan theories. It was a weird time. I remember marineford being seen as subpar at first compared to enis lobby.

I looked back at the old screen grabs in my phone and got really nostalgic for when the stakes were lower and the team smaller. Feels like this was 1-2 years of chapters with 99% of the main characters gone and a ton of people dying and now its going through second Luffy backstory with Ace only after hes dead

Action also got a lot lot denser this arc and reading on my phone has started to get frustrating due to the density of full page spreads

i want to go back to Sanji giving Chopper advice about women

already nostalgic.

I guess nostalgic is poor wording because it implies a longer time period to reflect on, but I just mean to say that upon taking a step back, I did not enjoy this arc as much as say Enies Lobby or Drum Kingdom. It was very different than what One Piece had been up to now. I say that while acknowledging the many objectively strong elements of it and IMO the effective use of several returning characters.

Haven't re-read the summit saga in a while, but I remember liking Impel Down a lot because I felt having a lot more focus on Luffy was better than constantly checking in on what all the other Strawhats were doing in a given arc. I probably didn't feel as strongly about Marineford as a lot of other people because it felt a bit bloated to me, but that might be better on a re-read. I dunno, I didn't realize vibe with most of Whitebeard's crew besides Marco I guess.

i dont like Robins lack of bangs (Oda is already bad enough at differentiating womens faces), Frankys new look, or especially Zoro missing an eye

you're really not gonna like the post time skip arcs

Yeah... The series still has goofy moments, but the world itself is gonna keep growing more serious overall. I hope as time passes you end up appreciating Impel Down/Marineford, (it's personally my favorite arc in the entire series), but it's meant to be a gut punch moment in the franchise. And not really spoilers, but the tone is kinda permanently impacted by what happens there.

I actually prefer Robin's new look. She's very beautiful.

Also, I have trouble keeping up with the manga because there's a lot going on and its hard to read sometimes. I watch the anime and there's One Pace which is a fan cut that cuts down on all the bloat and fixes it so its closest to the manga as possible.

There's a big change in tone later but there's still a lot of funny moments tbh. Just everything is bigger because like said, the stakes are bigger.
