i prefer an electric. No mess. Reportedly around 36 percent of american men use an electric but almost 2/3 of 18- 28 yrs olds use an electric. but that number goes way down as the age of the guys shaving guys up, though.

Hair clippers that are used for cleaning up your hairline/mustache/sideburns.

No, every multiblade razor shaves too clean, where the hair follicle ends up below the surface of my skin. Im Black and have curly hair, so it ends up growing back into my skin. The last foil shaver I had was an Andis that also cut too close. And single blade razors require a lot of trial and error to find how many passes are good enough.

As far as work, the only time its a concern is on my reserve weekend. But even the military doesnt require baby bottom smooth unless youre in basic training, a school, or an inspection. No one is going to come rub their hands across your face unless they want to be put on the ground forcefully lol.

At my civilian job, well I just wouldnt work for an employer that regulated my facial hair. I retire from the military in 3 years and plan to grow my beard and have a medium fade tapered into locs.

have you tried the norelco , 3 circles? same problem? That's what i use. The brauns can't cut hairs longer than like a week. Interesting , had never heard that if you are black that you would have that problem with shavers, though

I use a normal razor and shaving cream on my head, since I want that to actually be smooth. I just use and electric trimmer on my beard to keep it orderly.

I havent but Im open to try new shaver for sure.

Its not just a Black thing lol. Pretty much anyone with curly facial hair. Its just that the vast majority of us have a curly hair type as opposed to the more varied hair types found in other races.

I feel like an electric razor is good because its quick and convenient.

A safety razor can give you a closer shave, but takes more time.

i feel like the closeness of electric like norelcos is underrated. The difference is not as great as many people believe. Imo the difference is incredibly small. I don't get what many people say.

Dental clippers then I use a 3 headed electric razor for the stubble. If I do it right it get like 99% of everything. Straight razors always nick me at least once.

I used to use a blade, but I switched to a Norelco (3 circles) decades ago. No, it's not as close as a blade, but I have very fair skin and very dark hair, so I have permanent five o'clock shadow no matter what. But the electric shaver is easier to clean, easier for travel, less messy, and I'd rather buy a replacement every few years (great use of CVS 40% off coupons) than constantly get blades and shaving gel. Also requires much less attention.

Manual, but I should try electric.

My skin, especially the neck area gets really irritated regardless of the razor I use if I shave before fourth day.
I can either do it every day or every fourth. Second and third day the beard is too short and sharp, it's torture.

electric might be cheaper in the long run. It kinda is cheaper to just buy a whole new razor than replacement heads, like on bl friday, just buy a whole new razor

Gillette Mach 3 every third day works for me. Still looks clean shaven, even if there's a bit of stubble. More than that leads to ingrown hairs for me. Everyone's different of course. I know (black) guys that can do every other day.

Another thing to be very conscious of with curly hair is the direction of growth. Cheeks, chin and neck can all grow in different directions at the same time. Shaving sideways like the guys in the TV commercials can be a big no-no.
