Run around the map for an hour collecting the 6 infinity stones of your build and then decimate Margit. Rinse and repeat.

All of the copy&paste dungeons were awful

Really hope they don't do Open World again

Did TC just say that because you can break the game, the game bad? Cause like... you can do that with a lot of great games.

Also like how all of the responses were just seperate moans about Elden Ring lol

It's literally the same, just with scaled-up enemy damage/hp and runes.

But with less prep time running around right?
Does going in with a battle-ready character make it much better?

Maybe dont look up where everything is?

My second run as a pugilist thunder archer was way different than my first run as an ice mage.

My third run where I killed npcs was also different.

Like do different things?

I didnt say anything about breaking the game. This is how the game functions.

Their open world design is so boring when youve explored it already. The appeal, for me at least, of new builds in Souslike games is figuring out the route youre going to take to optimize your build on new runs. For other souls games that requires trekking through the various levels in a more methodical way.

In Elden Ring its literally run around with torrent not fighting a damn thing for hours.

Ok but, crazy thought. What if, you don't do that, and you play it normally and grab all the items for your build as you progress through the world the devs intended for non-expert players to go through?

i have about 900 hours on the game and i agree. imo every region EXCEPT the snowfield is a drag to replay

even then i acknowledge that's a minority opinion. dark souls 3 is way too condensed but full open world is not the answer

also, the underground enemy music sucks so fucking bad

And you can do that on subsequent runs if it is more fun then rushing your build.

Its not anymore fun the second, third, eighth time through.

The open world just isnt that deep enough to necessitate spending a fraction of the time running through it. So much of the map actually just feels like wasted space and poorly fleshed out.

The open world was kind of novel the first time around, but ultimately the parts of the game I liked most were the unique dungeons. It actually made me revisit DS3 after I got tired of Elden Ring.

I also tend to feel compelled to do everything, even if I initially planned to skip the repetitive mines/catacombs/caves/etc, which got a little tedious on subsequent runs.

I mean if you did 4 full playthroughs that's gotta be like 30 playthroughs of DMC or equivalent

I just move on to a different game after I beat it

mostly because I know the experience isnt going to be the same if I play it right after

its like finishing a TV series and going all the way back to ep. 1 as soon as you finish it

this may be the worst analogy ever

As long as the progression path is at least as open as DS2 I don't care how they do it in the future. I love ER's open world because so much of it can easily be skipped with no real consequence. That's the main reason it and DS2 are the ones I've completed the most times, limited progression paths is poison to making me want to replay a game, no matter how good it is.

At this point I've only got 1 more playthrough of DS1 and DS3 in me, and both need me to cheat in the weapon I want to use because otherwise I can't use them until at least 50% of the game is done, and fuck NG+. After that I'm just straight up finding a mod or cheating to respawn the bosses I do enjoy.

They really did mess it up. They should have left the horse out and made the open world denser, and gated upgrade materials way more. As it is, there's no reason to fight any enemies because you can just rush past them on the horse, and they don't give enough runes to be worth fighting anyway. You end up just rushing from A to B to get upgrade materials, and spend like 80% of the game farming for runes in a few spots. Yeah you can force yourself to play differently but that's never fun, plus the game actively punishes you for being weak with things like literally the first enemy you see when you emerge into the open world.
