Maybe it'd hit different now, but when I was watching Series 5 back round the time frame of it's release, I could not stand Amy. I absolutely detested the entirety of her overarching plot line. Everything about her felt unearned, both from a character and overall writing perspective. So, Rory. --- The name is wackyteen for a reason. Nah man, that was some of the best stuff. Him actually falling in love with a companion was new for him and going through all that and losing her had a profound effect that stayed with him for a while. As for the question, Amy was a huge bitch that was constantly written as being smarter and more competent than the Doctor, which was a huge issue with both of their characters. The way she treated Rory was also just awful. He was more of a pet to her than a boyfriend. Punching the Doctor for saying Amy isn't more important than the entire universe. "Would you like me to repeat the question?"
