Even though you can plead, in a civil case it can be used for negative inference.

Not sure, I was watching a live stream from right outside the courtroom. Maybe it was a short break.

There was a lot of questions about trump's involvement in financial statement valuations, working with Weisselberg, whether he knew these valuations were wrong, with trump repeatedly stating he thought they were bad valuations because the properties should be worth even more, but that he didn't care and that banks don't care much about the financial statements, so on and so forth.

It's 11:22 in the morning. Let him bloviate as long as he wants and keep him on the stand as long as is necessary to get through your examination. He'll be mentally exhausted and moody after four or five hours on sitting there.

Trump is answering more questions about valuation of property; he doesn't take issue with the description of his involvement but that he disputes the value given the location between Tiffany and IBM, Wallace is trying to pin him down on values changing since 2014. Trump is saying it's a "hold up" asset and the real value statement is derived from the cash flow derived from the net rental stream, not it's sale value to potential buyers.

Engoron asks Kise again to try to discipline his client because of what he characterizes as Trump's non-responsive, repetitive answers, whom the AG only has for one day (to testify.) Wallace repeats, "What did YOU do in preparing the financial statement in 2014?" Trump testified that he told McConney and Weisselberg about the "hold up" value but did not do anything else.

Wallace is asking if the statement (of valuation) is accurate. Trump continues talking about valuation of capitalization from cash flow, saying the value doesn't reflect his negotiated right to build condos at 40 Wall Street, which is the highest and best use. The gist is that it's undervalued.

Engoron, after listening to another speech in response to a yes-or-no question: "I beseech you to control him. If you can't, I will. I will excuse him and draw every negative inference."

edit: they are back from break and trump is being asked about the value of his partnership with vornado realty over two buildings, in which trump held 30% of both assets. trump testified, "I was a limited partner; I did not put up any money; I had no liability for what i owned." He can't help himself and is boasting about the structure of the deal in ways that are belied by the statement itself. The Vornado valuation in 2014 was $816 million. Asked whether that was based on accurate information, Trump testifies " I think so. I hope so."
