I get it, there are no rules against signing every major FA with any amount of money...but there has to be some rules laid out in the future against shit like this.....which there won't be, If MLB could have the dodgers and the yankees in the WS every year they would...

on the other hand: it doesn't matter, they will still be beat in the first round by an 80-win team every year

as far as i know theyre just normal opt outs that happen after x and y number of years.

It was last off-season when Judge hit free agency and Padres tried getting him before they landed Bogaerts. But Judge wanted to stay in NY so he stayed.

yoshi is a very young free agent since he is coming over from japan's NPB. he's not handcuffed to the 750k min salary + arbitration like latino teenagers or draftees are. although MLB teams *could* give out those monster deals, they have no incentive to since they automatically have 6 years of control over players and can develop or find a cheaper replacement in that time.

on top of that yoshi is generally considered by talent evaluators to be a top 20 SP in the world and could become even better with a MLB pitching program.

I follow the main account on twitter because I like baseball. and occasionally they make posts that don't beat-off the dodgers or yankees

Pretty disappointing, but the Dodgers could still totally fail to even make the World Series in the next decade. It's just not very fun to see a team get this stacked.

That's only because the way the deal was reportedly setup so the Padres were working around the competitive balance tax, it had nothing to do with who was on the team. The supposed deal was for $400 million with the average annual value around $28 million, which would have been outside the top 20. While that's not necessarily wrong in doing the league thought the Padres only set it up that way to avoid the luxury tax.

Espinal is a similar player. Biggio is so damn streaky.

Maybe the Jays are expecting to lose one or the other. Not sure. Plus we don't have a DH right now so if we don't find someone awesome, moving anyone to DH to have the day off fielding and tossing in IKF is a fine option.

Kirk I think is better overall, and Danny is so injury prone lately.

I kinda like the idea of us getting Bellinger for 1st base/DH, then Vlad can platoon at 3rd and 1st with IKF filling in on occasion.

IKF does make me feel like we may trade Espinal.

He's a cheaper less good version of Merrifield for them, there's no way he gets full time at bats at one position
