It was last off-season when Judge hit free agency and Padres tried getting him before they landed Bogaerts. But Judge wanted to stay in NY so he stayed.

i thought you were talking about some kind of trade. i'm not seeing how the MLB can veto a free agent signing lmfao. furthermore the finalists for judge were the giants and yankees.

yoshi is a very young free agent since he is coming over from japan's NPB. he's not handcuffed to the 750k min salary + arbitration like latino teenagers or draftees are. although MLB teams *could* give out those monster deals, they have no incentive to since they automatically have 6 years of control over players and can develop or find a cheaper replacement in that time.

on top of that yoshi is generally considered by talent evaluators to be a top 20 SP in the world and could become even better with a MLB pitching program.
