In my case I get badmouthed for being nearly 40, un-married and a renter. I haven't had roommates for years. I would never do that again because half the time they screwed me over.

I loved having roommates in college and grad school bc I always had people to fuck around with but now that phase of life is over I'm not going back. But you do you

I'm very much ready to not have a roommate but my roommate is not exactly jumping to move out and I'm not about to evict one of my closest friends.

Same boat here, but its probably going to have to happen eventually. Can't leave leeches attached to you forever.

Yeah, to each their own.

It should be a personal choice. If you can afford it and want to live alone, live alone. if you want room mates, have room mates.

It is relevant, for reasons that Ive already stated. Theres also the fact that I was renting/owning property in the UK from 2003 until 2022. Plus the fact that my experience in Vietnam is not living in places that cost $350 per month, which Ive already stated.

I have provided context, happily. Id also happily provide more, if you had questions. But instead youre being weirdly defensive about it, despite me clarifying my perfectly reasonable position.

so why not use your much more relevant UK housing experiences instead of saying that single income living is more than doable and that places exist for $350 inVietnam??

Like this whole topic it just seems like you really want people to know that you live in Vietnam where the cost of living can quite obviously be cheaper

In many cultures, theres plenty wrong with that sadly. People tend to think youre doing nothing with your life if you arent doing all that.

I dont see anything wrong with it either because the traditional life of getting married, having kids, and buying a house in the suburbs isnt the life for everyone.

Thats exactly what I did. And I explained that. Youre just hung up on the $350 part.

Single income living is very much possible in the UK. I explained that I had always been able to manage it. Once again, you either havent read or havent understood my posts.
