HAMAS has three water desalinization plants in Gaza. Right now, they don't have any electricity, because HAMAS never bothered to build a power plant... and Israel has turned off the electricity.

That said, three water desalinization plants is woefully inadequate for 2.3 million people. So they had to get water from somewhere else. Israel is nearby, whereas Egypt's water infrastructure is nearly non-existent in the Sinai peninsula.

They are unable to drill new water wells, install pumps or deepen existing wells, in addition to being denied access to the Jordan River and fresh water springs. Israel even controls the collection of rain water throughout most of the West Bank, and rainwater harvesting cisterns owned by Palestinian communities are often destroyed by the Israeli army. As a result, some 180 Palestinian communities in rural areas in the occupied West Bank have no access to running water, according to OCHA. Even in towns and villages which are connected to the water network, the taps often run dry....

In Gaza, some 90-95 per cent of the water supply is contaminated and unfit for human consumption. Israel does not allow water to be transferred from the West Bank to Gaza, and Gazas only fresh water resource, the Coastal Aquifer, is insufficient for the needs of the population and is being increasingly depleted by over-extraction and contaminated by sewage and seawater infiltration.

Military Order 158 pertained to occupied territories. With Israel out of the Gaza Strip, it hasn't applied since they left. Hence why there are desalinization plants there.

And the funny thing, and the major reason I hide most of these threads, is they all inevitably have multiple homeslices try to play the "you must believe everything Israel says and support everything they do or you're an anti-semite" to then have those same folks try to act like they care about civilians on both sides while they act like any action is justified so long as it is targeted against terrorists.

All while missing that the ultimatum they support is "release the hostages or we kill the hostages."

There was already more than half a billion dollars worth of aid going into Gaza each year before this event and how that aid gets used was amply demonstrated to you two weeks ago. Not at all. It was a direct response to his very specific post claiming Israel are the only one to use White Phosphorus. Hes absolutely right. They are. And I think thats awful and arguably a war crime along with collective punishment. But the reality is that hes making a moral argument here that Israel are somehow worse for using it when in reality if Hamas had the same tools theyd more than happily use them.

It was a criticism of the post he made attacking Israel. Not one defending Hamas. If Hamas used white phosphorus thats awful as well. Just like the terrorist attacks were.

There are people on both sides who want to see harm come to the other country and view innocent lives are just collateral damage and a means to an end. Its the innocents on both sides who suffer. This is the tragedy. Terrorist attack or war crimes. Both should be condemned. Make no mind that the only difference is one side is a lot well armed than the other. This isnt any way meant to absolve any war crimes Israel make during this conflict.

This is why this whole war is so fucked. You cant criticise one side without someone accusing you of supporting the other.
