Star Wars is just now recovering with Mando (Season 1 at least), Andor and Ahsoka (which is really good). But there's also quite a bit of garbage still being churned out as well (like Book of Boba Fett)

That's not pandering lol you completely missed the point. After they get blasted, he gets up and the first thing he does is ask if she's ok. She gives him a look and then grabs HIS hand (after previously knocking it away repeatedly.) That was a growth part in their relationship.

The prequels destroyed a lot of the more mystical 'feel' of the franchise imo, but it still had some charm and cool moments. But it also had intolerable shit like jar jar and really ugly greenscreen at times. Atrocious acting.

By the time the sequel trilogy came out it just all felt sterile and focus-group tested to the point that any joy was sucked out of it. But people gobble it up just like the marvel movies, so thats the slop we'll keep getting served. Like they were an ok way to kill 2 hours but it just felt pretty sad to watch.

The prequel trilogy has the honor of having the only movie in the entire series to make me fall asleep watching it. (Episode 2) So...yeah there's that.

I will agree the sequel trilogy was messily put together, but they're fun to watch for the first time. They fall apart once you start thinking about them though. TLJ does make me curious on what a Rian Johnson SW trilogy would be like, but apparently that idea got canned? Haven't heard anything about it.

Yeah, it's probably my favorite of the Sequels. It actually tries something original. It doesn't succeed at all of it, but at least it's not a rehash (force awakens) or a bastardization (rise of skywalker)

Andor gave me some hope for Star Wars, but I feel it's going to be a one-off. Still looking forward to Season 2.

I am pretty sure it was confirmed they had no plans. Each movie was going to have a new writer and director. That is NOT how you treat a flagship series. It needs to be planned out, otherwise yes you end up with "subverting expectations" and fucking everything over.

The final one is utter garbage.

It was literally improv yes. I don't even blame Rian Johnson for completely phoning it in with VIII. JJ Abrams did absolutely no setup and no worldbuilding and left no good plot hooks, just a bunch of stupid mystery boxes and an outright contradictory setting. Johnson saw that he had to make a sequel to a fucking JJ Abrams movie, said "nah fuck this y'all are losers, please stop it with the nostalgia pandering", and they fucking let him. Lest we forget, there was always someone in charge of the trilogy as a whole who could have hired anybody except for the one director in hollywood with no interest in star wars.

Rise of Skywalker, however, is a masterpiece. One of my favorite movies. It's Plan 9 From Outer Space levels of bad but with a billion dollar budget. Absolute joy to watch.

This really isn't as true as people claim.

While maybe not fully "based" on them, Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, Bad Batch, and Ahsoka are some of, if not THE, the biggest projects to come out of star wars recently, and all of them exist primarily to set up the ST.

Yeah, I agree with this. Except I don't think RJ phoned it in too hard, just struggled to put together a bunch of really weird plots into a cohesive movie. And EP9 is an absolute disaster of a movie. Abrams carries a ton of fault for the ST, and it's truly astonishing that they gave him any creative control.

She was fascinated by the Jedi and studied up on their tricks and abilities. I think that explanation was in TFA.
