I'm legitamately confused that Vegy has so many detractors. Is it because they don't like the gimmick? I haven't been here as long as some other users and Vegy was a fossil to me.

I get not liking Vegy for being annoying or for Drizzit's reason I just think calling him a creep and a misogynist for ugky topics was a bit much.

If Vegy posted pics of men with his usual euphemisms not as many people would call him sexist against the man. In fact many would fall for the tactic of the hack sociologist and say that you can't be sexist against men because power and use watered down language like 'gendered' instead.

I did not frequent Vegy topics but was aware of his reputation since they were all the same. At best I'd visit it once or twice a month and that's about as far as I ever went.

Anyway I have a gut feeling most of the users here are people not into men. I don't think most here would be invested at all about topics sexualizing men. Look, a lot of posters ITT that I like and respect seem to not like Vegy topics, but I just saw it as a stupid ignorable gimmick. Like I said before, it was super easy to just ignore those topics, or put him on ignore. Why do people purposefully put typos into their topics? To get engagement! And that's exactly what Vegy did. Yeah, that's annoying, but I don't see how that's sexist or misogynistic.

And there's been a whole host of accusations across multiple threads, whether it's because it's posting PG13 porn, or intentionally silly phrases, or objectifying women, or posting about sex in a public place (despite it being allowed by the rules), and so on. It's not like there's any one complaint. Yeah, a poster so prolific is going to get on some people's nerves, I'm not discounting that. I'm repeating the topic thesis that showing off some models is not sexist, as some people have vaguely claimed. And seeing that similar topics are getting locked, modded, or derided shows that this statement needs to be made.

That's true enough still you can't deny there's a double standard about sexualized media. When people enjoy the sexualized bare chests of Marvel movie superheroes very few complain, if you argued for the women to have an equivalent you're far more likely to get called a creep or a misogynist by someone.

It feels like along with the image of trying to look, "right" or, "proper" progressives and Democrats in general tend to lean toward a sense of prudishness that avoids sexualizing a women and even talking about sex as much as possible. Sometimes to the point where it seems like overkill.

As far as Vegy goes, I think it's obvious to anyone or at least most who have either called or thought of boobs by the term hulking staggers or even mommy milkers after seeing his topics why he's commonly seen as sexist. Even if he was joking, it's fairly obvious what he was doing there. >.>

Although I still don't know why he was banned, or the circumstances of what happened. I definitely don't agree with how it's being treated by the mods overall though.

If you go to favorite place to eat and find one day that they've stopped serving alcohol, you'd be within your rights to go someplace else even if the food is just as good as it always was.
Even if you don't care about fictional breasts (or real breasts on women playing fictional characters). Even if you're not into women period, it's still a bad thing to remove all buxom women from the media. You are saying that there is a certain type of person who you do not want to be featured in the media and it's through no fault of their own. This is like taking every story which had a Jewish character in it and replacing them with non-Jewish characters. You would be selectively removing a group of people from having any media presence or representation.
It's not just censorship. It's discrimination. How are women with large breasts supposed to feel in real life when they're not good enough to make it into movies? What does it say to them that body types and personality types are treated one and the same and that busty types are the "bimbo" types that we don't want? I suppose they can go out and get reductions if they want to be treated fairly.

I haven't been on here in like a year. I was always indifferent about Vegy - if anything the only things that bothered me were when he said fatphobic things.

But I agree that I see more and more people on the left being swerfs and super prudish sexually. It's very odd that being sex negative has turned into what people in their twenties consider progressive.

I agree with this and generally the topic as well but really I think far too many people are too easily offended by everything anymore. Censorship is getting out of hand in our society.
