AL Wild Card is coming down to seemingly 1 spot left between 3 AL West teams, assuming the Jays (Go Jays Go) keep even pace with them.

NL Wild Card is fucking crazy. 6 teams basically in it for 3 spots, though San Diego and San Fran are VERY outside chances.

I'll be rooting for Milwaukee and Tampa Bay I guess. Would like the Cubs and Astros to spiral out of the playoffs.

Really hoping my D-backs can hang on to that wild card here.

As a Dodgers fan I feel fantastic. For a year where we weren't supposed to be as good as before we've shattered expectations. And with no padres, cardinals, or red Sox to deal with I have very good playoff hopes. (I just want to win so everybody can stop shitting on our "Mickey mouse" 2020 win).

The jays have been a roller coaster lol. I thought after the rangers swept that series it was over but then the competition kept losing and the jays kept winning. Definitely a chaotic finish to the end of the season which is good for the sport

I think Twins go to the world series just because there are no Yankees around to knock them out of the playoffs.

NLWC used to be crazy. It's pretty buttoned up now. But conversely, the ALWC has gotten crazy.

I am a Braves fan, so this has been a pretty fun season! Postseason is pretty random, especially with all the short series and mediocre teams getting in (I have been against the WC from the start). But I am looking forward to it.

It has been fun rooting for the best team in baseball basically wire to wire (a hot start from TB aside.). It doesnt happen very often!

A good portion of my family is from Ga., and it has been a fun year for all.

Braves are freaky good this year. If it wasn't for the Orioles and having to play like they have in the hardest division in baseball, I'd have said the Braves have easily been the most impressive team this year. It was expected for the Braves to be good, not the Orioles at all.

This season has been weird for me and my two home teams. With the Marlins, they've been bad for so long that I'm happy that they're better this year, even if they're still not that great. But with the Cardinals, they've been "decent" for so long that I'm actually happy that they finally suck bad enough that maybe there will actually be some meaningful changes. If the Marlins manage to slip into the playoffs as a wild card, I'll definitely be cheering for them. I'd be happy if pretty much anyone left except the Dodgers, Braves, or Astros won the World Series though.

Also, I'd like to point out: outside of the 2020 COVID year outlier, the Marlins have won the World Series every single year (all two of them!) that they've made the playoffs. So if they do make it in this year, that fishy devil magic might kick in again, they might get hot, and they might win it all. Who knows?

re: the wildcard.

2022: Both NL WC's went to the CS
2021: One WC from each of the NL and AL went to the CS
2020: covid year, outlier with a fullblown hockey-style playoffs
2019: One NL WC went to the CS, and won the WS

so yeah it's pretty evident that the WC expansion is actually good, because it includes more good teams that can potentially go on long runs. To think that it's including "mediocre teams getting in" is factually incorrect.

I think most people like the WC teams and don't think of them as mediocre teams at all.

It does really well in combating when one division is simply weaker than the others. Case in point in the AL, all the WC teams are going to likely have a better record than the Twins, despite playing in harder divisions.

I am actually really happy for the city of Baltimore. I lived in the DC area for 15 years, and went to Camden Yards for games a lot. First, Camden Yards is still my favorite place to watch a game. Second, the fan base is great. When I first moved there the Os were a playoff team, and Camden was always rocking.

That venue and fan base deserve a good team after years of suffering. And this Os team is VERY good. Will be dangerous in the playoffs for sure.

The Padres would have to win all 6 of their next games and all the teams in from of them lose their next 6 and we're in baby!!!

real proud of what the Rays have done despite the insane amount of injuries this year (and our franchise player being a possible diddler), but sadly don't think they got in them for a deep run these playoffs

Braves can clinch the top NL seed with a win tonight vs. the Cubs.

Since the Yankees and Mets were both massive losers this year, it's going to be another year where I hope to see the Brewers win it all only for them to probably disappoint like they usually do.

Would be nice to see the Mariners eke out the final Wild Card spot over the Astros as well. Astros, Dodgers, and Braves making it to the World Series are the worst case scenarios.

Crazy, but understandable. The Dodgers were actually a NL Wild Card team that year as the Giants won the division by 1 game (107 wins to 106 :O) but lost in the NLDS. It was the only year since 2013 that the Dodgers actually did _not_ win the division, so yeah the Dodgers and Red Sox were the two WC teams to make it to the CS that year but they both lost in that round so yeah.

Marlins and Cubs are tied for the 3rd and final NL wild card spot after today.

Not yet. If Marlins, Cubs, Reds and Padres all end up 82-80 then the Padres win the tiebreaker.

Angel's been having a notably terrible year. Obviously, the guy should be fired. Consistently bad calls is one thing, but the incident with Bryce Harper just seems like he's trying to instigate something. And a lot of umpires do shit like that.

Marlins win again after a late comeback. It's really stupid that they might have to go back to New York on Monday to finish that suspended game from last night, but hopefully they keep winning and the Cubs lose enough to make that game not necessary.

The Brewers beat the Cubs, so the Marlins move one game closer to a playoff berth.

Reds won by seventeen runs, which they apparently hadn't done since 1999. Maybe if the stars align we can still get in -- the Cubs losing their fourth in a row is certainly helpful to that end.
