I had a friend in HS who ended up one. He essentially chased everyone out of his life by being such a terrible person, and I do mean *everyone*, and last I knew he was exactly in the mental state of someone you would expect on one of the websites that constantly has to move around lest the police catch them.

That's exactly the point, ultimate libertarianism would require humans to be creatures who don't need to be governed because they aren't ruthless toward each other, but actually mutually respectful of each other. libertarianism is an ideal that is a total pipe dream because humans are inherently selfish and fearful

Also, libertarianism isn't capitalism

Its been shown through all of human history across every continent and every culture that society results in the formation of a ruling class and subsequent funnelling of wealth toward the top.

Before capitalism it was feudalism.

Before feudalism it was chiefdom.

Its human nature.

It requires you to believe that any act of a govt, even an act you might agree has a favorable purpose, is inherently violent because it is compulsory. The free will of an individual is subverted by force and impacts their personal liberty. So if you are against violence towards a free person you would in theory be against the need for govt.
Now that isn't truly practical given human nature

The problem I have with libertarianism is that if you want people to mind their own fucking business, you kind of need a system in place to protect people and enforce the rules that ensure everyone is minding their own fucking business. I'll never understand people who aren't filthy rich and powerful who believe in libertarianism or conservatism. Why are some people happy to be an expendable cog in the machine just to make rich people richer? Is it some sort of holdover in the brain from an evolutionary predecessor where one likes being basically a worker ant to the benefit of the "king/queen"? Brainwashing and propaganda can only go so far. There has to be a foundation for it to build upon. I seriously wonder about that.

but, humans are not in practice that benevolent to one another, so govt is here
