Really wanted it to be more. I know its a Bethesda game but way too many people are using that as an excuse for some reason?

Gonna stick to X4 and Elite dangerous, they're giving me my space fill for now. Hopefully the modding community can go crazy with Starfield soon. I'll get into it then >_>

Somehow it feels worse than Fallout

The issue is you cant travel to planets, you can fast travel to planets. Its less interconnected than fallout.

the game really wants you to use the fast travel system which really disconnects everything with all the loading screens and popping in at the same place.

the lack of a local map system is also really frustrating

so far it kinda feels like fallout 76 but space themed. especially with how the work benches and outposts operate, and how the gunplay feels (its identical).

It is just more very overhyped, very overrated garbage made by Bethesda. It is all they know how to make is bug ridden messes.

Todd Howard is notorious for overhyping his garbage to buggery and to all hells and back.

I wouldn't touch one of their games for anything.

I played 3 hours last night and it did not wow me. It's not bad, but it doesn't seem up to Skyrim/Fallout standards. Will dive back in today. I've heard it gets better after the early hours of the game.

I'm about 3 hours in as well. And so far I think it great. I've seen some jank for sure. People walking in on conversations, etc.. So far the dialogue has been safe. I want to see some violent tones.

Game is gorgeous, definitely carries a bit of that space opera feel depending on how you capture the moment, which I love. This game feels like it's supposed to be invested in. Doesn't feel like a quick rewarding game. Bethesda is from a different era, and there still making games similar to it. That instant gratification generation time has grown and settled since.

I'm honestly excited to create my first outpost. One thing I really like is scanning planets. The game is just throwing things at me, and prompting it. Since you can choose anywhere to land on a planet. Scanning It will tell you what sort of landscape your going to see. Which is cool.

The biggest problem I have with it is you can't really fly anywhere. You have to fast travel everywhere you go.

That sucks big time. I'm sure the rest of the game is great but that one thing really has me worried. Even old ass games like Freelancer have that feature.

Is this satire?

I know cut content is a normal thing but to clarify BG3 also has cut content that was done so right before release. Upper City was still being advertised a couple months up to it and Act 3 is a noticeable quality drop from 1-2, it has a crapload amount of glitches and bugs (they've done good work so far releasing patches for it) and it just straight up doesn't have a proper ending. Those 17,000 ending variations advertised? Not there.

It's been funny to me watching people swag the hell out of Starfield for "bugs" and "unfinished" (even though I heard it's a complete game just fine) when BG3 is right there. All the Starfield hullabaloo seems way exaggerated in the first place, not helped along by the expectations that grew over the years. I'm sure it can do plenty of things better, but I'm also sure it isn't a Bad Game.

It's dumb how criticism of Starfield has basically devolved into comparisons to BG3 or console war shit. Really it should just be compared to Bethesda's previous games. Which, imo, isn't great. It's disappointing how Bethesda really hasn't grown much as a dev over 5 or 6 games.

Yeah it's a Bethesda game, it's everything you've come to accept from Bethesda games and not much else it seems like.

Yeah dont get why people think Act 3 is horrible, its not fully polished sure, but still good. Not even enough to really ding the game since Act 1 is basically and entire game in of itself. Act 2 is almost a whole game and Act 3 is basically an entire game as well, so you are basically getting 2.7 games in one really.

It comes down to if you like how Bethesda makes their games or not.

After seeing how it performs on pc, and the fact that there is no dlss support makes it a game I no longer have interest in.

every Bethesda game since oblivion has been a released buggy mess.

So what do those of you who have played it think so far? Good? Bad? Worth giving it a shot?

I haven't played it but from what I saw in ACG's review maybe he subverted expectations and seemed too positive. It looked fine. I just wasn't in the mood for a space trotting adventure nor had anything that could run it.

Elder Scrolls VI is in pre early development at least lawl

Don't worry they'll release it 50 times and it'll be good someday thanks to mods.

I think Skyrim was a perfect place and time kinda thing. I don't think they'll ever hit that success again even with ES6. That realization is probably why it's taking so long to make that shit.

Morrowind was still the best one. It also makes Howard seem like a cool guy as opposed to what he did now and his k.i.s.s system.

You mean wait until players fix it with mods.

Oh of course mods is the only thing that made thier games so good to varying higher degrees besides the soundtrack done by Jeremy Soule.

It is one of the most sterile and unimaginative versions of a space faring future I have ever seen.
They somehow took away what made their games charming (sense of exploration and a huge world to discover) and replaced it with entirely procedurally generated instances.
Even in space you're locked in a "box" where you have limited flying ability. Everything is done via fast travel.
The writing looks god awful and safe, everything is safe about this game.

PC Optimization is non-existent, it basically doesn't exist. A big reason is their textures are garbage, bloated and have insane dimensons. Textures range from .5 to 4-5GB in size and are like 115x25000 or some weird ass dimension like that.

There is one faction side quest that is pretty good which is pretty much tradition in Bethesda games so that's one highlight. The main story seems pretty uninspired and boring but that's normal for them and Emil Pagliarulo's dogshit writing.

I think waiting for mods is the best bet with Bethesda games.

Everything I've seen and read about this game so far makes me so glad I didn't get early access, and happy I ripped Microsoft off for 3 years of game pass ultimate for only ~$90
