In 2008, I was so broke for one month I survived on $32 worth of food. For the entire month of January I ate nothing but cheap chicken and pork hot dogs, generic cereal, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, Totinos party pizzas and ramen.

I sometimes get a big cynlindrical tube thing of unsalted peanuts from walmart for like $2.75; I could stay full on just that all day easily. Maybe I'd buy like an apple or something with rest, assuming I can just continue to drink tap water all day. If not, a gallon of water with the remaining $1.25.

It wouldn't be the most delicious option ever, but I definitely wouldn't go hungry.

cant be done in canada. best would be maybe 4 bucks a day on average, but bulk bought.

for example: that guys 80 cents 2oz chicken is about $1.85 American up here ($2.50 cad). more than double. Why? because we have a grocery oligarchy.

Nutrition-wise pretty much this.

Realistically $4 for a day means I'm most likely in trouble. In that case I'll just save the money and go hungry for a day. Well maybe cheap ramen :)

Nah, you get hungry enough I promise you'll eat anything edible, or even inedible, before you starve.

You're still cool for never having known lean times, though. That's quite the accomplishment!

Ramen 12 packs went up $1 in price.

You can microwave ramen too, but it is partially crunchy and sucks. But it will still get you where you need to go.

Actually now that I think of it, Price chopper has 2 dollars for I think 6 fresh(ish) bagels at the end of the day when they start to get old.

I guess I'd do those, some of the cheapest cream cheese or just American cheese, and a bag of Ramen with the left overs.

Idk if tc needs it or is just asking, but if you have a price chopper near you, it's a great deal. Walmart also has some pretty cheap bagels that are prepackaged but pretty good iirc.

Youre right, and maybe thats what he meant. It just wasnt how I initially read it. I saw it as the place was shitty because it was in Vietnam, but honestly, it could be either one and I should have given the benefit of the doubt. I apologise.

Don't think I could do that unless it was like "you have $28, survive on that for a week" because then I could whip up a big ol pot of bullshit and feed off that. I already do that for 3-4 days sometimes with kimchi from the local H Mart, various vegetables, one meat, and rice.

CiCi's Pizza was the goat when I was in-between school and work though. $6 to shove as much pizza as you can into one box
