None. I had 2 pets die when I was 8 and I never asked for pets again. I never really thought about it until my mom recently pointed out how I seemed to shut myself off to the idea of pets ever since then. My gf has a cat though and it's been fun seeing her cat warm up to me.

Throughout life I've pretty much always had 2, loss happens over time. I'd say I'm close to 9 or 10 ever, but I'd have to count.

Higher if strays that showed up and lived outside my home that I fed if they count. I've had an outside barn cat that lived here when we moved in for 10+ years.

I've never owned a cat. My parents had a cat when I was a toddler, and they adopted a stray cat that lived at my dad's moving company for a year or two before it passed.

Cats will exercise themselves lol.

Just need to do the litter. Or get the litter robot.

Mine go nuts for bottle caps

Three with my parents, and 7 more in the last 50 years.

One male was diabetic- had to give him insulin every day for three years until he passed.

One male was gay who terrorized our other cat until he chased the wrong car,

I taught a female to fetch, sadly she got cancer,

Just had to say good-bye to our 16 yo female cat a month ago swearing that we would have no more, happy to say an orange 2yo male just came into our lives making our home feel normal again.

They'll hide to take naps lol. I often don't hear from ours between 11am and 3pm while I'm working.

They also spend hours looking at birds and squirrels in the windows.

When I was a very young kid and lived in the countryside (this is the UK, 'countryside' means 30 minutes from the nearest large town), we inherited this fucking massive semi-feral cat called Jaffa.

The two things I remember about it were that we were not allowed to touch it, and that it once killed a fox. Bit right through the spine at the base of the neck and left the head all floppy.

As a result, I've never really wanted a cat of my own, but I do have some kind of respect/admiration for them.

Widely varies.

3 official pets, 9 community cats.
Last year there was a point where we had 11 under our care all together, but two passed.

Official pets
Ginger - D
Furrball - D
Cinder

Related outside cats. 7 of them are Cinder's littermates/siblings from a second litter. Followed by his mother and the cat that sired the second set at the very bottom of the list.
Sadie
Sofie
Sunnie
Misty
Mirage
Jett
Jaxx - D
Duchess
Mystic
-
They aren't official pets so to speak, but they're a mix of feral/socialized. They're friendly to us, extremely wary of anyone else.

My girls through the years:
Mimi (long since passed)
Beatrix (my big kitty goth gf; answers to "Boo-boo")
Winifred (recent dire health crisis, but thankfully my sweet floof is present)

Ladies I've lived with:
Eloise (an elegant lady of status who will always be missed; once featured on cat food packaging)
Iris (a big, fat, affectionate dum-dum; lives with an ex in Texas)

Naughty lads who've briefly roomed with me:
Momo (Mimi's adopted brother; moved out with my sister)
Wilder (Winifred's litter mate, unfortunately a little shit who agitated the established coven of Beatrix, Eloise, and Iris too much to stay)

We were the poor white trash cat hoarding family on the block when I was growing up, so I don't really know how to answer this. There were about 30 that we considered pets but probably over 100 in total, many of whom went stray/feral.

The two I currently have.

Only had dogs growing up, my dad was the type who claimed to be allergic to cats - but when I moved back home briefly with my first cat, he was the one trying to get it to hang out with him in the living room.

Anyways, that first one is my almost 15yo boy, Bagheera, whom I've had since he was a kitten. Like 7 or 8 years ago I took in a friend's cat, girl named Milky (for her perfect white mustache), who's about the same age.

this is the one thing i don't like most of all. even with cats they're not so willing patients for treatment or medication. my cat hated when she had to take eye drops and a pill when she had an abcessed tooth.

dog is easier for medication (easily can hide it in food).

on topic... would say about 4 family cats. 2 parents gotten rid of. 2 passed (1 by car, 1 by cancer).

Bailey (Orange boy, trouble maker) (RIP)

T. C. (Calico, always tiny, loved riding on shoulders and chasing bugs. After I was born whenever I would start to cry she would run and get my parents apparently.) (RIP)

Snoopy (Black short hair. Was born from a stray my parents took in before I was born, got the name because he was always getting into the trouble) (RIP)

Fluffy (Black long hair, Snoopy's sister. Nicknamed Catitude due to her haughty manner. Enjoyed tormenting neighbor dogs) (RIP)

Mickie (Mackerel Tabby, liked to sleep snuggled up next to me when I was little) (RIP)

Tigger (Orange boy, very smart and very dumb at the same time. Loved other cats) (RIP)

Rudy (Orange boy. Potentially abused before we got him, he was always skittish and didn'tlike being touched. (RIP)

Bucky (Black long hair, stray my dad picked up while at work. Was the rattiest looking cat you ever saw when we forst got him, greq up to be the softest little cuddle monster ever. (RIP)

Harley (Mackerel tabby, enjoys cuddling with me when I get home from work, and sneezing directly into my face while cuddling. (Currently alive)

All of them except Tigger and Rudy lived to almost 20.

Tigger had a slow growing tumor in his throat that started to obstruct his breathing and the vet couldn't remove it.

Rudy somehow got a cut that got infected. Since he didn't really like being pet or sitting in laps ever we didn't notice until he started losing weight, and by then it was too late.

Oh, we're doing breakdowns.

Neko: tuxedo. First cat, we got him because my rats got out and started breeding. A few months after we got him we had no more rats. He was to this day the most intelligent cat I've ever known, self-sufficient to the extreme (lived outside by himself for 3 months), and a real boss. Loved him to death, but we couldn't get him a life-saving operation and he died at 7 from kidney failure.

Inu: white-orange tabby. Dumbest sack of bricks I ever did see, but he was very affectionate. We got him to be a companion to Neko, but...well, they got along okay. Had to give him away on a temporary basis due to living situation. Mother then lost the contact info for the guy we left him with, so I lost him forever. Still haven't forgiven her for that one.

Yuki: white, brown, and gray tortoise shell? Got her not long after Neko died. Loving personality abd loved other cats--except Kuromi (see below). She got along with my roommate's cat so well that they were essentially inseperable. She died of lung cancer at age 15.

Ivan: tuxedo. Technically was not my cat, but another roommate's. This guy was the sweetest animal I've ever known; so long as you weren't a dog, he wanted to be your buddy. He was a street rescue by said roommate, was found in a very bad state. Nursed back to health, and became best boy. Said roommate was an abusive, neglectful alcoholic though, so when he offered to give him to me and my other roommate, I accepted without thinking. To this date he's been the best pet I've ever had, and it hit me incredibly hard when I had to euthanize him. Died of lung cancer at 16.

Kuromi: black cat. only cat I've ever purchased. Black cat, definitely the runt of her litter. I walked randomly into a pet store one day and saw that she was sitting in a cage full of kittens, but was curled into ball and sleeping away from the others who were very hyperactive. Store owner told me she was juat having a bad day. I never would purchase another animal again, but her I would: there had only been one other cat she gets along with (Ivan, who else). Otherwise, she's very hateful toward other felines, but loves other people. Still alove at 16, even though she's smaller and weaker than before. Somehow still healthy, too, despite chronic URI.

Luna: black cat. Sister to Mew. We never got enough time to bond with her, as she died not long after we got her: Wet FIP. She was just over 2 years old.

Mew: black cat. sister to Luna. She's now 4. Is very affectionate, but only on her own terms: while I've had lap cats before, she's the only cat I've known who will find any way possible to sit on you in the most awkward positions. She is also extremely talkative. Gets along well with Chopstick, but wisely keeps her distance from Kuromi. Most of the time.

Chopstick: tuxedo. We took him in from my brother due to my nephew's cat allergy. We cat sat him once when Ivan was still alive and they got along famously, but Kuromi terrorized him. He probably remembers that because he hates her. Always stirring shit with her. He absolutely loves Mew though, and stays by her side a lot. He was a street cat rescue that my brother and sister-in-law brought over from Vietnam. Honestly, it's a tiny miracle he's alive. He's currently 8 years old and still going strong, only dental issues being his health problem.
