Let's see how Argentina likes it when a far-right loon is in charge. The true elections will be on October.

I cannot for the life of me comprehend why most of the entire world is shifting to the right. It also fills me with great unease about our future as a species.

Same. As a minority, it's disheartening.

You can thank a combination of right-wing propaganda, centrist incompetence, and leftists not uniting enough against this threat like they should. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean all hope is lost. There are plenty of places where fascists have utterly lost ground.

Wonder if theyll take another shot at the islands? And if the UK will tell them to go fuck themselves again?

Yeah, I'm wondering if they will try and re-take the Falklands again. I think the Royal Navy retired all of their Sea Harriers and replaced them with F-35Bs.

People should stop trying to extrapolate local trends to the whole world. This does not respond to a global surge of the right, in fact, the left has been on the rise through Latin America the past couple years. It just happens that Argentina's centre-left government specifically hasn't been able to solve the country's economic crisis, so people are looking to the right.

Unfortunately too many people think this way. Its the same in the US.

Weve had Dems for too long and look at all the problems! Better change things up and get the Repubs in, maybe they can sort things out.

The flaw there being the assumption that (far) right-wing governments make anything better. They dont.

Indeed. Look what happened when Bolsonaro took over. At least Brazil had the sense to finally wake up and kick him to the curb.

It's actually not that hard to figure out. There's a sort of a chain reaction to how the rich are able to control the education in their country. The result of it is that they learn that work is the end goal, not given the proper education to be wealth owners themselves, and their rich worshipping labor future supplemented further if their parents or their closest mentor are also right leaning.

That's why that one graph recently showed how much worse educated the average right voting citizens are. There are limited amount of actually passionate education, and all it takes is to simply have enough undereducated people to buy into a narrative they cannot shake off, and they will never live to be aware that they're actively voting against their own interest

It's not all that different from how fascistic govt keeps their power and produces new generations of drones, and why integration from a long time society of oppression is exceedingly difficult and often paired with revolutions and wars.

Very true. These folks are mostly going along with it because they really don't know any better. For instance, look how the Marcos family was able to turn their smeared reputation around by using fake news to trick people into voting for Bongbong. Nonetheless, I have hope that America's next generation will do far better in saving this country from the brink of fascism.

Heard about this earlier tonight. It's certainly a disheartening turn of events and I hope Argentina doesn't make the same mistakes that the USA and Brazil made.

If they do, then they better hope that the bozo can be defeated in the next election just like Trump and Bolsonaro.
