I tried it and its not really my thing.

To be fair though, my tune might have been different if I had friends who were into clubbing because how good of a time you have when you go partying will highly depend on your squad.

Been to both gay clubs and regular clubs many times during undergrad.

HATED the experience. Crowded, full of drunk people, and virtually impossible to carry out a conversation with the booming music.

It's changed for me as I've gotten older.

Tired of paying out the ass for drinks, waiting 20 minutes for each one and getting kicked out by bouncers because I'm 'too drunk'.

Granted I sometimes am too drunk, rarely have I been kicked out when that's the case though.

I'd rather just get as sedated as I like at home.

If you are being regularly kicked out, you are either too drunk or so obnoxious that you seem drunk

I always have a good time. I like dancing and I sit in this weird pocket of looks where I seem approachable but still attractive. Girls will waive me over to dance in their little groups.

I get really drained from socializing in general though. So I don't go often. I have to really be up for it. Also, I'm kind of old for that. Granted getting waived over by women in their 20s is an ego boost, my wife doesn't particularly love when they hit on me.

Clubbing is absolutely not fun to me. I don't drink (especially at the ridiculously inflated club prices), I don't typically like the music and it's literally deafeningly loud regardless, I'm in a happy 15 year relationship so not looking to hookup, I have more friends than I can spend time with as it is. There is zero reason I'd ever want to go to a club.

Enjoy it all you want, I sure don't.

Yep. Most of the friends I made after my divorce were like 5 to 20 years younger than me. And since my fiance is so much younger, I am often the oldest one. But I also have more energy than almost all of them.

What is even the point of a club? Too loud to strike up a conversation with anyone and too crowded to get comfortable anywhere. I really don't see the point and my brother who was one of Denvers largest club promotors 20 years back was never able to sufficiently explain it to me no matter how many dumb clubs/raves I got dragged to.

The drugs sure that was good, but honestly would have been better in a quieter setting. The dancing... yeah, not my thing especially to electronic music. Had 0 success with meeting girls IDK how anyone does it the sensory overload from the overly loud music flashing lights and limited space is just too much. To each their own.

I'm not a nightclub guy either, but I can understand why some like it.

The only time I had a hookup at a nightclub is when a female friend took three of us guys and promised to get us some action. Well, only I did, because I drunkenly hooked up with our friend (the other 2 guys were pissed).

But I never had any success with random women at nightclubs.

I used to, but it depends on the club.

If you go there with a bunch of friends and are kinda familiar with the place...it can be fun.

Your choice in music also matters, as most clubs focus on one style over others.

If your friends drag you to a club where the music is NOT your taste.....ughlk....super annoying.

The biggest issue is that a lot of clubs nowadays are absurdly expensive. Cover charges ranging anywhere from $5 to $20....just because there's some kind of "event" that night, whether it's happening while you are there or not. Standing in line forever just to get an overpriced drink that's probably watered/flavored down in some way to save the bar a couple bucks per drink.

Also, it's always mating season, so the young bucks get super aggressive for no reason. Some dudes go to clubs looking for women...and if they can't find any...they start looking for fights.

Also, as dark as this might sound...it needs to be said: At this point in American society....I kinda hate going anywhere with lots of people for extended periods of time. It just takes that one wacko who wants to shoot up the place. Or a fire. A collapsing dance floor. People getting trampled to death. Riots. Looting. Muggings.

I dunno. What's stopping people from going to the store to buy their own alcohol and have smaller parties in the privacy of their own homes? Invite only people you know.

And then have an orgy.

The biggest problem with large clubs is the 30+ minute wait to get a drunk. If I can't get a drink within 5 minutes fuck that place.

I always found that they were pretty good for that, on the occasions that I was single. I wouldnt score every time or anything, but the odds were pretty fair.

Maybe club culture is different depending on where you are?

Despite my relative success with women after my divorce, I never learned the cold approach skill. All my dates, flings and relationships were from online dating and from within my circle of friends. I was even friends with my fiance for 3 years before we started dating.

Fair. Ive only tried online dating the once and I feel like it wasnt really representative of most peoples experiences because I did it while looking in Asia, so it was easy mode. Not sure how Id fare in that arena otherwise. I guess we all have areas of strength and weakness.

You'd probably do fine with online dating. It takes making a strong profile and knowing how to message well.

Oh, I did have one short "relationship" that wasn't online or within my social circle. It was actually my first real thing after my divorce. But she cold approached me at a dive bar. Too bad she had a boyfriend...
