terrible deal. there would not be enough room for humans left on earth. those ten b's don't buy much when you can't see the shelves at the store. in fact, the second that money hits the account, most of the planet would be blanketed in a spider-tsunami. you'd have to live on the third floor just to be able to look out your window and see anything but spiders.

Well, technically most of those would die immediately on growth as they'd be crushed in whatever crevice/crack they were in. Or they'd be completely squished inside the walls and unable to hurt anything or move.

Spiders that large might also have some significant medical/military applications.

Think of what we could do with their webbing!

Or train them for military operations. Maybe search and rescue? Surveillance?

Christ....can you imagine how AGILE the jumping spiders would be if they were the size of cats?

Only thing that would concern me is how their diets would need to change.

They might start eating birds instead of bugs. Or cats and dogs. Or people.

If their food source doesnt grow proportionally....they might all starve to death not long after being magically grown to the size of cats.

Jumping spiders are only cute because they are of no threat. I can bet many people who find them cure would change if they became the size bigger than a human baby.

Even the US and its insane military budget lacks the amount of ammo and missiles to cut down the spider population, even if they were the size of a household cat.

especially if their carapace scales in survivability (as in, most of our weapons would do jack all to them)

I assume they'd all die soon after since the earth doesn't have enough oxygen to accommodate their huge sizes. Else we'd have giant bugs like we did 65+ million years ago.
