I am tempted to go either Warlock or Cleric. They seem to have the most unique story flavor. Warlocks get their power by pledging themselves to an entity. And you can talk to your master supposedly

Clerics might be able to talk to their gods. But also I think your chosen religion changes some dialogue in the story

i've only played a few campaigns of D&D, so i should probably try for something i haven't done, so not a rogue, cleric, or artificer. thinking wizard or paladin for first play through. something with spellcasting at least

Any class can become a bear fucker i think. I don't think its tied to class

it depends on which subclasses they allow in. I'm tempted to go 2h or ranged battlemaster fighter, or eldritch knight fighter, but it sounds like humans no longer get a feat at 1st level so I'm not certain. having sharpshooter or great weapon fighting at level one is so nice, i'm going to be sad if I have to wait until level 4 for my build to come online.

I am more excited for this than any other similar games as I am super familiar with 5e and play it often, so I can finally take advantage of a system from jump without having to learn it first.

Monk and I wanna take a vow of poverty and get all the bonuses of 3.5 Book of Exalted Deeds

You can do anything in D&D

But one of the Warlocks gets Pact Of Blade -

You can use your action to create a pact weapon in your empty hand. You can choose the form that this melee weapon takes each time you create it. You are proficient with it while you wield it. This weapon counts as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.

Your pact weapon disappears if it is more than 5 feet away from you for 1 minute or more. It also disappears if you use this feature again, if you dismiss the weapon (no action required), or if you die.

You can transform one Magic Weapon into your pact weapon by performing a special ritual while you hold the weapon. You perform the ritual over the course of 1 hour, which can be done during a short rest. You can then dismiss the weapon, shunting it into an extradimensional space, and it appears whenever you create your pact weapon thereafter. You cant affect an artifact or a sentient weapon in this way. The weapon ceases being your pact weapon if you die, if you perform the 1-hour ritual on a different weapon, or if you use a 1-hour ritual to break your bond to it. The weapon appears at your feet if it is in the extradimensional space when the bond breaks.

I'm sure I don't have to explain this to you, but BG3 still does have to deal with the restrictions of a video game. So I don't know if it will be exactly what you want. It would be really cool if once you do it it brings up a customize screen so you can at least change the shape and color like you do when you're making your character.

BTW, the character creator is f'n amazing

I recently got the latest (last?) expansion in Solasta and decided to play a Warlock, I think I'll try that out as well in BG3.

For the full release either Ancients Paladin or Beastmaster Ranger. My first Early Access Tav was an Ancients Paladin so I guess I could remake that one.

Paladin, maybe. Depends if we get the subclasses from Xanathar's and Tasha's. Fizban's would probably be hoping for too much.

They screwed up the list. Warlocks have their patron types displayed, not their subclasses.

did they say if they will be adding in the other subclasses and species? want to be an aarakocra and get that 50 ft flight speed at level 1

Druid for life.

Either War Cleric / Paladin or Full sorc.

Depending on the classes my 2 buddies finally settle on.

If both is going to he taken, probably going for arcane trickster or assassin.

Details are going to be decided on the fly.

Really want to do a Cleric but I just know my buddy is going to roll a Paladin so that might push me to Bard or Wizard for a bit more variety.

Patron choices are the Warlock subclass. They grant a series class features as you level up (1st, 6th, 10th, 14th) and an alternate spell list. Very similar to Cleric subclasses, for example.

Pacts are just class features, albeit particularly impactful ones especially if boosted by Invocation choices.

Lots of interesting stuff, but I'm all about that ninja life. Still, if I were to get this, hard choice between Rogue/Assassin and Shadow Monk. Some other pseudo rogue kombinations are up there too.

Last time I played a D & D based game everything was still based on 3.5, so until I get sorted with all the new systems and BG3 itself, I'll keep it basic and go fighter.

You can have an Archfey Chain/Blade/Tome, or a Fiend Chain/Blade/Tome, etc. It's the Chain/Blade/Tome that dictates how you play your class, the Patron just determines how you look doing it.

Also, on top of subs, the vid mentions secondary klasses will be a thing. That really begs the question... if I mix druid and monk, how klose kan I get to making Kung-fu Panda?

The most fun I had in Divinity:Original Sin 2 was with a hydro/aero mage and making elevtrical pools of water (and blood with Blood Rain if the Rain spell was on cooldown). If there's a class that can do something like that, that's probably what I'll go with.

If not, then maybe Druid since Diablo 4 didn't give me the druid experience I was hoping for.

Barbarian, Ranger, or Warlock. Depending on melee, ranged, or magic (though Ranger and Warlock can be legit melee as well). All three are super simple in execution and give bug numbers. Rogue and Cleric can as well, mind you, but they require actually knowing what you're doing to get there versus the other three kind of just being obvious.

And this does not include potentially busted multiclassing as I don't know how they are going to go about it.

Yep, this is me as well. I don't know if it's in BG3, but this could be very good in the game -

Your alien knowledge gives you the ability to touch the minds of other creatures. You can telepathically speak to any creature you can see within 30 feet of you. You dont need to share a language with the creature for it to understand your telepathic utterances, but the creature must be able to understand at least one language.

Warlock or Druid. Depends on if I do coop with my gf and what she picks

Yes, but your life will be miserable at certain points for obvious reasons.

Hmm ok ill try it out

Warlock will eventually let you unleash three Eldritch Blasts, each doing 1d10 damage and if you take the Agonizing Blast invocation, you add your Spell Modifier to each hit. Add Hex on top of that for an extra 1d6 damage per attack.
