Man, it's like I don't even enjoy it anymore. I don't know what happened. it's such a sad thing.

Not exactly. I like a few games as much as I liked games in general as a kid. Right now I'm basically all in on Trackmania and SF6. For a while it was Dota for me, but as a kid anything was great.

It's all about not having the time for me. I made a pretty big medieval town on minecraft during lockdown. I think I had 600 hours on that save.

Now that things are back to normal with work n stuff. I don't feel like even starting a 20-30 hour game.

Eh... Mostly?
The proliferation of microtransactions and live service bollocks have dampened my enjoyment on a lot of newer products. There's still good stuff around, but I don't get hyped up for much these days.

I enjoy it but don't have the time.

Well I have the time but if I was to focus it on playing a video game that would make me feel like a negligent parent

I had more fun replaying Lufia 2 on my classic this spring than I had playing any recent AAA.

Multiplayer I've enjoyed about the same but single player games have taken a nose dive for me personally. The blame is with my own personal taste changing over time and out growing modern stories. I just can't sit through cutscenes that are mostly cringeworthy or poorly written.

My peak with gaming as entertainment was between 2006 and 2009 I steadily played less beyond that.

Yes.

My joints will likely go before the hobby does. If you ever hear of a senior home having a Street Fighter tournament, it's probably me.

Depends on the game, but a lot of them feel like they're designed to just be work now so they can boast about 100+ hours of play.

I do, just feel like I'm wasting time when I do, though. It's important for me to balance out what I'm doing. Can't do the 8 hour marathons everyday anymore. Maybe like once a month now.

Overall yes, but I do know my preferences have changed over time. As a teen I would love playing most RPGs, but now it is just way too much of an investment of time.

The experience certainly isn't as spiritually enriching as it used to be, but I still enjoy games.

Nowadays, most of my satisfaction comes from getting a 'Yes' answer to the question 'I wonder if the devs thought of that?' And TotK is scratching that itch quite well. Last night I was going through the quest to rebuild Lurelin Village, and needed to get a straight palm tree to fix a house. For RP / muh imershun reasons I didn't want to cut down any palms in the village proper, so I went a little ways out of town to get one; I put it in place, but Bolson was nowhere to be found. After I tracked him down, I realized that that stage of the quest had been reset because I went too far away from the village; 'ugh, dammit, now the log's gonna despawn and I'll have to start over,' I thought. On the contrary, not only was the log still there in the cutscene, Bolson even had a specific line to the tune of "wha....? Where did that log come from?!"

I know it seems like a stupid / minor thing, but for me it's really, really nice when a game goes out of its way to acknowledge and even reward lateral thinking and roleplaying.

Same way I feel about being able to light the end of crossbow arrows in Timesplitters 2.

It's not stupid or minor though. Back when games were built by small studios with little overhead, they were labors of love. I could imagine the folks at Larian that came up with all the little arguments in Divinity Original sin knew that those quips would be memorable (to somebody).

How many other rpgs out there where you can argue with a party member over saving a chicken or not fighting a necromancer out on his vacation?

Feels unproductive and self-indulgent to me nowadays. I can't play more than an hour or two at a time and I hesitate to start games that I know are gonna take 100+ hours.

I don't watch much TV for the same reasons.

Games don't grab me like they did when I was young, but the ones that get me really sink their hooks in me.

Persona 4: Golden, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Persona 5, fighting games (Namely SF6 and Smash) and the Soulsborne library are the only ones that really scratched that itch in about 5 years.

I still love them and probably always will, but I'll probably never enjoy them as much. That's not a bad thing, it's just because when you're young everything is new to you so when something really great comes along it's like OH MY GOD THIS IS THE BEST FUCKING THING EVER I WILL NEVER GET TIRED OF THIS!!!

Now that I'm older I have a lifetime of things to compare new experiences to, and more perspective. So it's a lot harder for something to blow my mind like it used to.

It comes and goes in waves. I'm currently in the down wave of it. Will probably last a couple months while I focus on other things in my life. Then some game will come along that'll give me that spark again and I'll be back in it.
