One of Bill's charitable organizations fights malaria, through providing things like mosquito nets and malaria vaccines to underdeveloped countries, and also by trying to reduce mosquito populations. One such tactic is to release genetically modified mosquitoes who's offspring are unable to reproduce. These mosquitoes have been released periodically for over a decade, but apparently they're "just now spreading malaria" instead of you know people suddenly deciding to be anti vaccine.
