I feel like for those that have lawns where electric mowers wouldn't make sense don't have too many noise complaints anyways, whereas those who live in grouped up communities will have smaller lawns that electric mowers can handle easily.

This is why I don't support a blanket gas-powered ban.

They are annoying. Especially when you have neighbors who are clean/control freaks about their yard

This is also quite reasonable, but the fact stands as is, using a gas mower does significant damage. If you have to do massive landscaping consistently, why not chip in for electric and do less harm for the environment.

Again I can see how it's about "noise" in the article, but it talks so much more than that. I ALSO understand that electric runs out too, but if you're on a massive as fuck farm, why not disperse the work out over time so that electric keeps up, or get a bunch of batteries. Hell charge it through solar means too because you happen to have a solar farm.

Good for them. Electric is so much better. I switched to an EGO battery powered mower five years ago. Its quiet and it works great. The 7.5ah battery lasts long enough for me to mow my acre of land on one charge. Ill never switch back to gas powered.

well a gas push mower really isnt that frikkin noisy, pal.

If you think a lawn mower is too noisy for your precious sensitive ears, then you might as well go buy a goat or a cow

They're annoying. But when I hear them I think "How spoiled would I have to be to think that this is something victimizing me". This is some soft boiled pussy shit. Unless someone is purposely harassing you with it and being calculated.

I have an electric mower and like how less noisy it is btw.

I fear for your hearing.
https://www.cdc.gov/nceh/hearing_loss/what_noises_cause_hearing_loss.html

If you don't think that is "loud" and come up with louder things, you're probably already hearing compromised and don't realize it.

Also to elaborate, if you're using gas and NEED to use it because you're using it for your massive lawn, then odds are you're probably using it for about 2 hours cutting a big ass lawn. But if your lawn is small enough that you aren't using it for 2 hours you're probably fine going electric.

Regardless, there IS a reason the people who use lawncare equipment regularly wear hearing protection. To call people "pussies" for saying something is loud when most likely in the manual it requires you to use hearing protection, feels a bit contradictory.

Are electric mowers able to get through a middle size lawn without breaking the bank? Right now using my gas one till it dies, so likely handful of years, but will look into electric next.

Lol, this is nothing. A few years back he spend hours arguing with me on how Napster of all things was legal. Including sending me angry PMs.
If you're reading this, TC, and think "omg rent free" I only remember it because it was freakin hysterical.

Buying ear protection is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a new lawnmower, especially if you have a big lawn and have a rider.

As a kid/teenager I would have never understood the argument that has mowers are loud or make too much noise, but having had the opportunity to use an electric mower, I dont know how you could use one and ever even consider going back to a gas one. Its like night and day.

I mean, they are loud, but they don't need to be banned. It just needs to be illegal to run them before 10am on weekends.

Yeah, I'm sure the people who work overnight shifts love coming home to lawnmowers running at 9 AM.

I used to love mowing until I bought a house with a corner lot. That shit sucked.

Moved into a house that still has a big yard but nothing like the old house. I pay someone to take care of the yard though because I'd rather spend that time doing other stuff

my electric mower is pretty bad ass. small enough yard to get it cut in 30 minutes or so and can cut it a few times before needing charging. got same brand for hedge trimmer and weed whacker, and thus three batteries i can use when one dies on me.

And they're right, unfortunately. I switched to an electric one like a year-ish ago, and holy shit is it so much better. Plus I can listen to music with my standard headphones instead of the "complete deafness" noise cancelling ones I wear.

Electric mowers are really nice quite and dont breakdown as much. The only thing gas mowers are nice about are way longer runtimes. $350 dollar electric mower can only get half of a small lawn done before the battery dies.

In 2025 when the democrats are asking how they did so poorly with the Latino vote, they should remember stuff like this. This will be $$ out of the pockets of small business owners who often have a loud voice in communities.

I didnt even consider this. Electric mowers are nice but are horrible for extended use time.

That sucks. My electric mower can cut the front and back yard off a single charge from the stock battery without dying. It usually takes me 20-30 mins per yard.
