I'm not sure if either of them were actually an asshole, but on the show Matt definitely played the part of the antagonist and Pat played the part of the guy who was really easy to bait into losing his temper.

Although given how things developed off camera, I'm not sure if either of those were roles they were playing and not their actual personalities.

Pat has a healthy relationship with Paige because he is funny, nice, open-minded, progressive, and non toxic.

After Matt came back from his break he seemed bored. The passion he had was largely gone. Its nice that they are doing their own things but I miss the good old days. I always looked forward to their videos after work. But when Matt came back for RE7 I knew it was only a matter of time before it fell apart.

Yeah, I think they both just got sick of it, and had become annoyed with each other, and just decided to end it. Anything I've read that tries to analyze things that are more dramatic than that has no validity.

Eh I thought the RE7 playthrough was fine and Omikron was by far their best playthrough

tl;dr: Matt and Pat had a lot of friction and Woolie was the glue holding everything together. Matt was mad at Pat because he felt like he wasn't pulling his weight enough and had a bad work ethic, and Pat was mad at Matt because he took a larger percentage than the others because he was "the founder" of the group and also wasn't pulling his weight (ie: he took lots of breaks from the podcast towards the end). Woolie ended up mediating the whole break up when it finally got to a breaking point. Pat got the podcast and Matt got the (now defunct) channel and the profits it still generates. Matt was always interested in making video essays rather than playing games, and Pat was more interesting in twitch.

Take it with a grain of salt, but a lot of it does make sense imo >_>

Pat and Woolie are actual friends, Pat and Matt were friends through Woolie IIRC.

yeah, Pat and Woolie went to school (cgep) together, they've known each other the longest between any of them. Woolie was actually Matt's first choice to be the 2nd "Best Friend" in TBFP but he didn't want to do it at the time and suggested Pat instead

Huh, I always thought it was the other way around and that Pat was the one brought in through Woolie. I'm probably only thinking that because of Pat's comments years ago that the reason he and Woolie hadn't (at the time) ever done a LP as a duo without Matt involved was because they didn't get along well enough, or something like that.

I wish I could remember what series he said that in because I'm probably remembering what he said wrong.

It's so odd because they had some really good chemistry in the Barkley LP (as well as a comment about friends that didn't age well) and seemed to genuinely like each other.

Pat mostly doesn't seem to get why Liam doesn't like him and is fine with Liam for his part.

Right before the breakup he heard Liam was playing Warframe (I think, some game Pat liked) and reached out to him on Twitter offering to help out. Apparently Liam had him muted or whatever and Pat didn't know and Matt's wife made a bunch of passive aggressive tweets about it.
