The goal of a logo is to draw your attention. I think with this black typeface, it succeeds greatly. When browsing through a convenience store, you will see the word "PEPSI" easily as it is framed within the red, white, and blue. Isolated from the rest of its surroundings. Having said that, I would like to see how successful this would have been with at light typeface like the last one. Or maybe go a step beyond and try Thin and even Hairline. Break the rules a bit, Pepsi. That being said, this is a success because it is safe. It borrows from previous iterations and does almost nothing to invent itself. Just a different typeface.
