Like Jak 2 and 3 had the punch Jump spin shoot punch jump spin shoot thing. I Spammed that across the whole game. Amazing experience. In a way its like dmc 3 sword Master style with aerial rave e&i shot jump cancel aerial rave e&i shot jump cancel etc.. add in a few point blank shotgun blasts and some hammers or aerial crosses too for variety and also to glitch out the dted enemy knockback counter. It wasn't until Spider-Man they really found another long term franchise. Naughty Dog in comparison had Uncharted and The Last of Us. They're fine, but way back in Up Your Arsenal, they bought into their own hype about the series being about wacky weapons. So then they decided the series was a third person shooter instead of an action platformer. So the levels have been a lot less entertaining with more focus on the gunplay, but the gunplay isn't that engaging either. They also clearly ran out of weapon ideas about three or four games back. This went along with the storylines being infantilized a lot. Like just look at the original story of the first game and then the remake, there's no bite to it. I'm like halfway through Rift Apart and it's literally a story about friendship. They're basically the gold standard for the cinematic action games these days. Which as cool as Crash and Jak were for the time didn't really come close to the acclaim they get these days. It's not like they're the only developer around who stopped making platformers after the PS2 generation. Even FromSoft made The Adventures of Cookies and Cream. They're basically the gold standard for the cinematic action games these days. Which as cool as Crash and Jak were for the time didn't really come close to the acclaim they get these days. I dunno sometimes I think it's okay for a developer to move on. Like yeah, the main hub was definitely inspired by it, but there's so, so much more to the game than that. Anyway, huge fan of both franchises, so I'm really sad that the Jak games died.
