A person isn't likely to get a wild itch to spend their nights researching politics to get an evenhanded view of both sides of an issue -- especially if they've been predisposed to believe that the liberals "hate America," "want a handout," etc. It took college for me to get rid of 80% of my conservative views. And it took until my 30s for me to realize that, even at present, I still barely know the first thing about how the system really works. I understand human nature enough to have a grasp for how the two sides play people against one another. But if you were to ask me for a detailed path to victory in the realm of politics, it would probably take several months of active research before I could tell you how Republican politicians do all that they do, how a number of Democrats support them, and how to put a stop to it. For people who are less educated, the price of gas, the ability to say God Bless America (something no one is legitimately trying to take away), support for the troops, doing what their party says, and "leftist tears" are what count. They could educate themselves in the same way that a 400 lb. individual could become 200 lb. with enough drive and determination. It's true that nobody is padlocking the gym doors or forcing people to eat unhealthy. That weight could be taken off. But if you want to avoid being that obese, it's best to work to prevent it at a young age rather than dedicating your life to playing catch-up. ... Copied to Clipboard!
