I think all of the blueprints for it can be found in the mushroom forest biomes.

If need be, you could build a mini base there with a scanner room just to find the blueprints for them.

Head towards the aurora entrance and the. Head a bit more left and stop when you see the Mushroom trees theres usually a tonne of parts there

otherwise for Engine head towards the Enforcement Platform island just before yoh reach it dive down and you should see a bunch of floating islands. Search around there

my best tip is make a storage module for the seamoth. Then fill it with enough stuff for a Scanner Room, Range Upgrades, a Multipurpose room and a Bioreactor. Catch some random fish and search for Fragments

Also good to know: if you have multiple rooms built on top of each other and build Alien Containments in them, they'll form one big Alien Containment, which can fit more creatures.

20 for an Alien Containment in a Large Room. I recently learned that when stacking them, you don't even have to build them exactly on top of each other, as long as they're still adjacent to each other by two-thirds. That allows for even more architectural creativity.

Drive north from the Lifepod towards the first island. When youre close go down about 200/300m and you should find the Underwater islands. Engine parts should be fairly plentiful around there.

I find switching between regular view and Keel view is best.

The Sonar is the best IMO but I hope youve crafted 8000 Powercells because it destroys power.

I hated using the Cyclops. Having to swap between cameras to drive even competently and worrying about power made it too stressful. I know there are solutions to the power issue, but ugh. I just wanted to keep scooting along in my Sea Moth.

The Cyclops can take a good number of hits from leviathans though, so you don't need to be too afraid in it.

It is super unwieldy though. It's useful for being a ship that carries both a smaller, better ship and a growbed full of food, but that's about it.

I think in universe, it's supposed to be manned by a crew of three or four people. Which is why it's so unwieldy, cause you're basically doing the work of three people by yourself.

It already comes with so many advantages, it stands to reason that for gameplay purposes there'd be a few downsides, just like with the other vehicles. The trick is basically not to rush things with it (unless you have to make a fast escape), and to take your time to prepare it in any way you can and get used to the controls before taking it out.

I actually somewhat enjoy having to carefully navigate the Cyclops through confined areas. Makes it feels all the more satisfying when I do make it through successfully.

Thats honestly what I hate about it. The whole game is so responsive with zipping around. If you forget a single thing on a trip to the Aurora its a quick trip back on the Seamoth. The Prawn with Grapple and Jetpack can super speed through areas.

And then you get the Cyclops and everything just slows down. God forbid you forget something in the Lost River youll take an hour just to get back. Then the endgame goes from being extremely open to compact and tight. And if you dare try to use the fastest speed the entire thing catches on fire.

(massive endgame spoilers)
When I play now I just put enough Mats to make a base with Moonlool past the Lost River Waterfall and just upgrade everything there then only take the Prawn through the Lava Zone. The Cyclops only gets used for transporting the mats down and then back up
I think Below Zero does this somewhat better with the Seatruck, but then its extremely compact and it gets annoying to drive anywhere as well.

Hopefully Subnautica 2 learns from this

You don't have to bring the whole Cyclops back if you forget something. You can just use whatever vehicle you have docked inside the Cyclops. Or you can even make it while swimming while equipped with a Seaglide and an Ultra oxygen tank.

Hopefully Subnautica 2 learns from this

Make a thermal powered base in the lost river with 1 or 2 powercell chargers in it and ready powercells in it/them. Also, thermal vehicle upgrades are your friends.

There's nothing you're actually 'supposed' to do, considering it's an open world sandbox game with little to no handholding. You can build a base anywhere you like.

But yes, strategically the Lost River junction is an excellent place for a (secondary base). I can understand the Cove Tree being a more appealing spot because everything about that part is so peaceful, but I think it's a little less convenient with the location being less central than the junction and the sea bottom there being below 900m (which requires an upgrade in depth modules).
