After getting lost in there the first time, my first base is always near that entrance. The game/narrative doesn't actually intend for you to go around slaying beasts. There will be other defensive/protective means, but not much offensive beyond the knife and it's 1 upgrade. And yeah, the game very much wants you to not kill leviathans despite it being possible. Even late game when you'll probably be in a vehicle 90% of the time, it's still really nice to have to be able to get away from non-Leviathan threats more easily for those times you have to be out of the vehicle. <cite>Srk700 posted [p:972367180] in Subnautica... The more stuff you add to your base the more the overall pressure mechanic builds up. The deeper you are, the more a new addition to your base effects pressure.
