Hey, I just thought of something. Back when the Rescue ship got shot down. Can I go find the wreck from that, or is it just nothing?

I'm with the other guy. Hearing them but not seeing them is the worst. I hate when I decide to kill one and the the sun goes down.

Nah, it's nothing. I think I tried to look for it once, but wimped out pretty quickly. But there is actually nothing to find anyway.

Canonically, the Sumbeam is a much, much smaller ship than the Aurora so it was just completely obliterated by the gun.

Plus the area the Sunbeam was shot down over is in the void, so you'd never be able to find it anyway.

Good to know. I'm actually getting better with this game. I actually went over to a Reaper and let it kill me just to see how it looked.

I obviously reloaded and decided to avoid them forever though.

My Seamoth can go to 900m deep. Not that I've found anywhere close to that depth yet.

That's as deep as the moth will go. Wish it kould be upgraded 1 more time.

Well, technically you can beat the game with just the seamoth, but it'll take you some work. I've been watching a playthrough by a guy who just...never built the other vehicles. He wasn't intentionally going for a challenge run, he was just kinda being stupid? He only had to build them to use the drill and the fabricator.

How did he get to the last two alien bases without vehicles? Did he sacrifice the moth and/or have a pocket full of oxygen tanks? Or did he build a number of bases on the way just for air?

He had two oxygen tanks, died a lot, and was pretty lucky.

Honestly, he played it the weirdest fucking way possible. Even at the end of the game, he preferred going with just his seaglide rather than the seamoth. And I've never seen someone play it and just completely lack thalassaphobia. He didn't even notice his first reaper because he'd dropped an item and was looking for it. When he finally did get caught in one, he just told it to fuck off.

You know what this game is missing? A map. Or at least a map that gets filled in after exploring. You can always use the beacons but it ends up filling up your UI/screen and it becomes annoying.

Well, you can always turn off any markers that aren't too important at that moment. The only ones I have on all the time are Lifepod 5 and any seabases I've built.

There are quite a few maps to be found online, but personally I think it's much more fun to play without one, as it adds the immersion of having to figure stuff out on your own.

I know I'm hella late to this, but I'm in love withe the game. I've beaten it multiple times. To be able to go back and play it again for the first time would be a dream.

HEAVY SPOILERS

The first time you stumble on the Lost River is one of the most surreal gaming moments I've ever experienced.

Also, the Reaper Levisthans roar is the single greatest autobyte in gaming IMO literally perfect

The Ghosts are terrifying, but also strangely beautiful. I think I will make a base with an observatory out there.

I mod in a map on every replay. I just wish they included blueprints/databoxes

Decided to start a new file after a long time thanks to this topic.

Soon as I set up a nice base near a dropoff and a thermal vent for power, I have to pack everything up and move 800m to another location because the reefbacks at the initial location wont shut the fuck up and its giving me a massive headache hearing their groans every two seconds.

Soon as I get a prawn Im killing those things.

I usually play while listening to podcasts, so I'm probably not getting the full experience.

One time I decided to build a vertical tube connecting my seabase to the surface, and it happened to be right in the circling route of a reefback, which ended up getting stuck against it. Eventually the reefback got itself loose as it's slowly turning, but it made for a pretty funny picture:

I wish I saved the screenshots from my first play-through when a reaper somehow migrated and got stuck in the shallows. I dont know why or how it happened, but I could see it semi-surfaced thrashing around when I stood on the pod.

Getting into this game during EA will forever be one of my best gaming experiences. Actually felt stuck on the planet for like a year with the cure and Escape Rocket gradually being implemented and the ending felt great after all of that.

Well guess a return is in my future. I have 3 fears complete darkness, being trapped in closet (cuz dark and small), and the ocean. Love all the wildlife in them but the deep scares the ever living shit outta me. Probably won't be able to play this

What I've read from other players who have experienced this, it seems that when Reapers are injured they will automatically swim to coordinates 0.0.0 (where Lifepod 5 is) and hang out there. Not sure why. I've never experienced it myself, but then again I always flee when a Reaper spots me.

It's not really worth the effort IMO. You're not really meant to kill them and it thus takes forever.

I made it all the way down to the alien research station in the fossil cave.

I don't think I have enough resources left to explore it though.

The reaper in the shallows thing can happen if it takes damage. For some reason some entities will try to default to 0,0,0 on the grid when they take damage.

Happened to me with one of the good ol ghosty bois in my first playthrough. Dunno if it can still happen, but it definitely used to.

Reapers are fine. It's the ghosts that really take forever. Even with the best oxygen tank and thermal blade, I kan't do it on one breath.

Id suggest making a 2nd base where you are now. (Maybe a bit further on near the Blue Waterfall) a lot of stuff happens down there and you really dont want to be trekking down their multiple times

I wouldnt be so hasty. It starts off really horror like but as you go deeper and it starts to wear off.

plus you can also get a almost indestructible suit that can drill things in the face
