it aligns with it quite nicely. there may be minor discrepancies between those positions, but they still align in how the present in the media. I also haven't heard a rational argument against mandates that don't rely on anti-vaccine dogma.

In my experience, anti-mandate folks tend to fall under one or more of the following umbrellas:
  • Libertarians who don't want government imposing any sort of requirement on people under any circumstances (which obviously doesn't work well for public health)
  • Covid deniers that refuse to believe the worst public health crisis in a century is bad enough to warrant any interventions beyond what people choose to do for themselves
  • People somewhere on the anti-vaxx spectrum, including quite a few that are willing to accept that more established vaccines are probably okay, but have bought into the fearmongering around how the Covid ones are "rushed" or "untested"
I haven't seen many exceptions to this, but there are indeed a few people who oppose mandates that aren't actually anti-vaxx. They're equally mistaken about what constitutes sensible public health policy and are often influenced by the anti-vaxx fear, but that's still secondary to their main concerns.

claiming a source is bad is not an argument.

Sure it is. There's some nuance to that and it's usually more productive to say why a source is bad, especially when dealing with somebody who just doesn't understand and needs it spelled out for them, but if the source used to reach a conclusion doesn't actually constitute a valid basis for that conclusion, pointing that out is no different than pointing out any other flawed logical process in forming an argument.

Your belief is that if you don't like where something comes from, then the information must be wrong.

Where did you get that? All he said was that VAERS isn't a valid basis for forming conclusions about vaccine safety. That's a true statement, not him saying that the information is wrong because he doesn't like it.

aside from quitting cigarettes or alcohol, getting an annual flu/covid shot (which you can do at the same time!) is one of the greatest bang for your buck health interventions out there. Knowingly avoiding them requires very poor judgment.

You're correct that the risk is lower than from Covid itself (and cases resulting from Covid itself are more severe in addition to being more likely, much like is also the case with the AZ/JJ blood clots), but it's higher than the general population rate. That's mostly what that VAERS study was finding in the first place: That myocarditis was being reported among vaccine recipients at higher than the expected background rate, prompting later research that confirmed it to be a rare (~1/100,000, highest among males between ~15 and 30) side effect.

Mostly, the end result of that research is that those getting an mRNA shot are warned of the possibility of myocarditis as a side effect and told to seek medical attention if they have any of the symptoms of it. I believe there have been a handful of cases that have required a day or two in hospital, but most are treated easily and sent on their way. None (that I know of) have resulted in death, aside from that possible case in Germany our other friend seems to think is both conclusive and representative of more than one person.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK459259/#article-25470.s4

The incidence of myocarditis is approximately 1.5 million cases worldwide per year. Incidence is usually estimated between 10 to 20 cases per 100,000 persons. The overall incidence is unknown and probably underdiagnosed.

So the Covid vaccine accounted for an extra 5-10% more cases. It might actually be less than that, but where other instances are often underdiagnosed because the symptoms aren't severe enough to warrant a doctor visit and/or meet the clinical threshold, I'm inclined to assume that roughly the same pattern applies to vaccine-induced cases and that vaccine-induced myocarditis is equally underdiagnosed. That's speculation and I don't have any concrete basis for that opinion, but intuitively it makes sense.

It's unsure for me, since I have 2 normal and a booster shot. And since I'm still young at this age (I'm 23, this year I'll be 24), it might not necessary to get another shot for me [because the younger age - the higher immune system or antibodies is, if I'm not mistaken], unless mandated (or publicly announced) by the government in UAE.

Good Lord that I do not have any symptoms or side-effects, based from my personal recollection.

Explaining to a GameFAQs user to understand that it is not sufficient to attack the source is like explaining to a communist that you need to take a shower once in a while.

Explaining that a given source is not a valid basis for an argument is perfectly sufficient, provided it's on the basis of examining how logically valid the source is (critical thinking) and not just a matter of saying they're unreliable or biased or anything like that (basically ad hominem). Again, Zang did not do the latter. He only said that VAERS wasn't a valid basis for drawing conclusions about vaccine side effects, which is completely valid. You then chose to misinterpret that as attacking the source instead of asking for clarification because you didn't understand the problem with VAERS.

If you don't understand something, ask about it. Other people aren't responsible for spelling everything out for you under the assumption that you know nothing about a subject when you decide to inject yourself into a discussion of it.

Id be good with it. I dont mind needles at all (unless an idiot nurse cant find the vein in my arm and goes digging for it). If I could get them the same day it would be great because I wouldnt have to drive an hour to my doctors office twice.

You don't need to entertain anything. I provided the stats shortly after he asked that.

Also, the term is "pedantry." Because if there's one thing worth being pedantic about, it's pedantry.
