I'd like to thank whoever suggested reclassing Boucheron into a Hero. He's kicking ass now and actually hitting things!

Berserker is just a really bad class lol. Shame, it's usually one of my favs.

Removing the innate crit from Berserker/Swordmaster/Halberdier was a weird decision. Like in exchange they gave them S rank weapons but that's a super niche advantage and no way worth giving up multiple weapons.

Like nobody has any business being in those classes. There is always a better option.

Swordmaster is fine but yeah, there's a lot better choices. Silver dagger on wolf knight has better crit than silver sword on swordmaster without any crit modifying skills or emblems. Like, whaaaa? Also because they use build instead of strength to determine speed reductions for heavy weapons it means that a lot of units can't even use the S tier ones except maybe against uh. Heavy knights with the pushback weapons? That's about it. RIP.

I mean is Swordmaster fine? Without the crit bonus it's possibly the weakest it has been in a long time. Especially in a game where weapon triangle has been more important than ever.

Of the three, axe enemies are rarely mixed in with lance enemies until the end and as such for most of the game they can take a side of the map and function just fine. The other side for most maps is either mostly sword or mostly lance users. But then, you run into that "wait, mc is best sword user" thing. But at least swords have better evasion. <.< That all said, obviously wolf knight with swords or hero works way better and are actually good. By fine I mean c tier. It works. Nothing to write home about.

It's not great but it's definitely better than it has often been in the past. Enemy weapon selection is diverse enough that you don't just get wrecked by lances at every turn like you do in so many other games, and it's not easy to get kills with physical 1-2 range weapons so their lack of that isn't so big a deal, and they're a backup class which is very nice. It feels a lot better than FE7-9 where the class is just ass in every way, or Shadow Dragon where you reclass someone fast once or twice to use a forged wyrmslayer for a boss or that dude in front of Medeus and otherwise ignore it because it sucks in every other scenario. Not losing any damage or hit/avoid against lances is also really nice since it means you handle them just fine on player phase (and can kill Greatlance dudes on enemy phase before they get to break you).

Yep. Meanwhile in path of radiance you use Ike and his swords because he's mandatory and one of the few who can hurt the final boss on hard or Maddening. But most enemies use lances so you want axe users or at least mounted/ flying lance users.

Just heads up for people who haven't completed the Marth paralogue yet.

Make sure to take out Marth as soon as possible. Because otherwise you deal with apparently infinite wyvern knight reinforcements! Srsly I'm almost at turn 30 and they're still coming!

I just stuck my unit with Ike in the doorway and Marth ran right into his face and neither hurt each other, so I just kinda used that time to hunt down the enemy with the speedwing (I think) and chest items. Then I moved my wall and had a mage nuke Marth so bad it was almost funny.

After turn 30, I decided I was wasting my time and the wyvern knights were indeed unending and I had used up too many resources to justify continuing. So I restarted, headed straight for Marth and parked Ike in the doorway like you. Marth went down quickly lol. And it only took me 5 turns! I skipped the treasures because I decided they weren't worth it. Elixir, Speed Tonic, Silver Greataxe? Meh

Sage has high magic and the best weapon rank. Staff access. Shit class ability.

High Priest has best Staff rank, arts for breaking thieves. Can heal themselves.

Both of the above are mystical so they ignore terrain avoid bonuses. Good for hitting theives.

Mage Knight is mounted. Can't use staves. Can use a weapon type of choice. Incredibly good ability which is basically just +3 speed in most situations.

I think Mage Knight's the best of the bunch, and would be my choice. But if you need staff/mystical utility, High Priest is a good choice. Pain in the ass to qualify for since arts profiency is pretty rare unless you have the DLC and can use Tiki. Sage is meh but can serve in a pinch until you get brawling profiency.

If its an orange dot on the map, you should be able to just press A. But it could be your donation level. Some animals you cant adopt until you get a certain donation level at the base. That could be it.

Reloading for levels is going to drive you insane eventually, you get a rewind feature very soon anyway that makes keeping people alive easy. You don't need to worry about optimizing level ups or anything in Fire Emblem in general and especially not in Engage where for the most of the game you keep getting new units who are at least as good as anyone you might have trained. Generally the best advice for Fire Emblem is to not worry about some sort of long term plan where you conserve every limited resource and try to milk the most exp out of everything, you'll make the short term much harder on yourself for no real long term gain vs just using useful stuff when it seems helpful and taking kills on whoever gets them most conveniently.

The game is overall pretty forgiving with the Engage mechanics and most maps have plenty of spirit pools, but yeah I do a of engage hoarding. Out of fear of the unknown. I just need to like pop an Engage on a third of my units turn one, then the next third turn 3, then then the next third turn 6. I'll probably find it opens up a lot more options and that I'll never really be caught too off-guard.

Like there is no reason you shouldn't be Dance of the Goddessing twice a map. That's far to valuable of a tool to only use once "for when you really need it"

Start using it right away IMO. Better to deal with units that aren't engaged after you've already killed half the enemies.

Turn 1 Ike + Great Aether is an effective strategy.

They're fixed at some point before you load the map and it would take messing around in the somniel to change the rng seed you're on.

So even on Random growths, the game rolls the RNs for each character's level ups at the beginning of each map. So if you level up you'll always get the exact same level up. In theory you could still re-roll, but it would only be feasible by taking a character close to leveling, starting the map, leveling on like turn one, deciding if you like the level or not, and if not, restarting the map, returning to the World Map and reentering the level to reset the RNs. Which...just sucks.

Just to be safe you can make sure you change the seed by joining in a tempest trial or other map in the challenge tower.

26 chapters but the last 6 have a ton more story scenes and stuff than the middle ones so you're probably a bit over halfway in hours played. It took me a little over 54 hours to finish the game which is right in that 50-60 hour estimated time most people are saying it will take.
