While there may not necessarily be somebody armed in a food service establishment, the likelyhood that at least one employee just wishes somebody walking in would give them a fucking reason is notably higher than other forms of retail.

But it tends to result in additional charges and attracts even more people with guns.

When the shooter took the ninth shot, the guy was on the ground and unarmed. He summarily executed the guy.

Yeah in my state there is a exception to the no shooting a fleeing criminal (felony crime) and that's if you have DAMN good reason to believe they are still posing a threat to the public. Not sure if that only applies to law enforcement cause I learned it in basic for being a CO. Which in very strict circumstances can do what a cop is a allowed to do.

A criminal brought a fake gun to a robbery in Texas of all places, and got shot by somebody who should probably be charged with second degree murder or manslaughter. The customer's life wasn't in danger, and at best he's a vigilante who shot a person in vengeance for a wrongdoing. He won't be charged, because good guy with a gun doctrine or some bullshit people like to parrot around.

Didn't scroll far enough to see the video. Read in the article that he was on his way out the door when he got shot in the back. Looks like he won't get charged after all. Criminal is an idiot for doing a literal armed robbery in literal Texas. Sucks that he had to die to find that out.

Don't want to chance getting killed? Don't rob people especially with a gun. And how is anyone supposed to know the gun was fake or that a robber will just take money/possessions and not kill someone? You never know who is a psycho.

And I don't like how some folks downplay stealing like it's nothing. It feels like it comes from a place of privilege. Maybe one of those patrons had a little extra dough and was treating themselves with a meal. Having all their money being taken could hurt them bad. Same goes for having to get everything in their wallets/purses replaced like debit/credit cards and drivers licenses. Someone with less money and possibly already struggling to begin with will have to take time out of their day and possibly have to take off of work to go to the bank or the DMV. I feel like people don't think about this stuff.

Home robberies are the same. A person will have to go through the trouble of replacing things that were stolen and that's if they even can. And what about things that are priceless to a victim like heirlooms or other things special to them? They'll never get those back. This is why I'm fine with the idea of defending ones property, within reason.

He won't be charged because this is the state that acquitted a man who killed a child because he thought a truck backfiring was the robber that fled 5 minutes ago coming back to kill him. He still had the robber there.

You're right that it's unreasonable to wait to see if a gun is fake or not. That's why what I said wasn't predicated on it being a fake gun, but my reading that the robber had already committed the robbery and was on his way out the door when he was shot in the back. The robber knew it was fake, and still took it to commit an armed robbery, forgetting that statistically, there will be an armed person in an establishment more often than not in Texas.
