You're not on my side if you downplay bigotry and trying to push trans women out of public spaces. It isn't "just someone being stupid" when it's part of a concerted attack on trans people and our lives. They're pushing policies to restrict our rights and to enshrine discrimination against us as a right of theirs.

It never is merely them being a bigot, it's that the bigotry snowballs and what started as them saying we aren't women leads to them banning us from sports and bathrooms and that leads to them legalizing housing and medical discrimination against us in every field, and from there it becomes acceptable to fire us and refuse us jobs, and then eventually it leads to us being rounded up and killed off. A few days ago Texas trended because their AG was trying to compile a list of all transgender Texans. Historically speaking, nothing good ever comes from the state compiling a list of minorities by name and address.

Hate speech, especially when it's trying to get us kicked out of jobs simply for being transgender? That's violent rhetoric and causes immediate harm to us if not challenged. That's why much of Europe tries to crack down on digital harassment and bigotry. Because it will snowball out of control if we don't set an example with the bigots.

This is pretty terrible all round (the topic, the title, everything) but just on the side, I recently learned that norwegian prisons are a total walk in the park. A friend's brother is a heroin addict and he's stealing shit like all the time. His time in prison is more like a glorified house arrest.

They have a very lax idea of internment over there, usually.

many countries already have laws that make it illegal to discriminate based on race, sex, ethnicity, religion, and some other categories. the simplest thing would be to add "gender identity" to this list.
