Masks are inconvenient. People don't like being inconvenienced.

Someone refusing to be inconvenienced and potentially endangering other people is an asshole. People don't like thinking they're assholes.

Solution: masks don't work and they're tyranny. There, now you don't have to be inconvenienced and you have the moral high ground.

I should have the freedom to not get an infectious disease, but height of the pandemic and unmasked morons coughing in public didn't seem to give a shit about my freedoms.

Masks werent an end all protection, just a safety measure to help prevention. Simply the bare minimum we could do.

Theres a lot of people still against masks, and its pretty sad you only think its one group.

Masks are there to mostly help prevent the spread. When hospitals fill up, people die regardless if they have covid or not. Are people still this fucking stupid about masking and why it helps?

One would think enough of their loved ones dying would change that. Have they not had family needing to go to the ER during covid? I mean my mother had to go to the ER during the tail end of the lockdowns cause she hurt her back and we had to wait 5+ hours just to get to a temporary room so a doctor or nurse or whatever could give her painkillers. Turns out she had an infection in her back and it took far too long to get that diagnosed and she had to spend weeks in the hospital cause of it. Luckily it wasnt life threatening cause it hadnt reached the spine yet, but still scares me to this day, what if it was?

Some people flat out do not care. There was a tweet I debated on saving but decided on not doing so because it would be too heartless. It was a man railing against the lockdown because "it caused his wife to die of covid." When people talk about anti-vaxers being too dumb to live they are talking in literal terms: they really are so mind-numbingly out of it that they legitimately cannot comprehend the idea that anything outside of dumpster-dived propaganda is the absolute truth.

Covid-19 is, at present, the 5th deadliest pandemic in recorded history. So it would be nice if we as a society could be arsed to take it at least a fifth as seriously as the Black Death.

A guy that donated to Hillary Clinton's campaign (Dr. Fauci) suggested people wear masks, so naturally, Republicans made him, and anyone that wore a mask, enemy #1.

I spoke about before how a client came into my office spraying her sick all over. And it just like why... you know you are sick. Even if it isn't covid. It would be cool not get that shit all over my office. I am people in many Asian nations wear them when sick. Is it a big issue there.

At work we scoff at people who go out to places that are covid hives, but a lot don't care to wear a mask.

Car body shop guy doesn't wear a mask at work but refuses to get on a plane or travel.

Like I can kinda see what angles they're going with. I just wear a mask more often, partly so I don't have to smell shit. One time I had to change my mask in the mall and I was surprised how different the place smelled since pre covid.

Why are "only republicans" being called anti mask? If we assume republicans are anti mask and liberals are pro mask (which is where we've come to in this hilarious two-party system, but that's beside the point), then we should assume roughly 50% of the population is anti mask and 50% is pro mask.

When you go outside, do you really see nearly 50% of people still wearing masks on a given day?

I agree republicans are more staunchly anti-mask, but in my area (twin cities), there must be a shitload of republicans, because I see virtually no masks whenever I go out. Like, it's a surprise if I see one.

So... instead of blaming republicans for being anti mask, try separating their political party from the actual issue (masks) and be equally mad at everyone if you're mad at them for not wearing masks.
