I don't know why it annoys me so much that they're skipping by 1000 with each generation instead of 100 lol. I mean I get the change from GTX 1080 to RTX 2080, but from there it should have been RTX 2180 lol. I mean are they eventually going to do LTX (random acronym) 10080 in a few years when it's time?

More power means being able to push higher graphics at higher resolutions at higher frame rates. There's probably a situation where there's never too much power because developers will bump up graphics somehow if they have room.

NVIDIA's argument is that since it's 70% faster than an RTX 3090 Ti, it's worth 50% more money. Which makes sense in the most basic logic, but really this is how technology has always been. Yes, this is a larger leap than normal, but there hasn't been a philosophy of "this is X times faster therefore it's Y times more money" like this. A CPU from ten years ago was in the same ballpark MSRP as a CPU of today, even though the CPU of today is 20x faster.

The reason the RTX 4000 series is so expensive is because NVIDIA has a crapload of RTX 3000 cards sitting in warehouses and they need to sell them around their normal MSRP, and the only way to do that is to sell the next generation at much higher prices, making the 3000 series seem more affordable.

The 4090 is the price of my whole gaming pc, and it has a 3080ti in it.

Depends on what you mean by justified. The performance uplift over the last gen is significant, but nobody outside of the very few needs to entertain buying something like that. The vast majority of people aren't gaming at 4K anyways, and I doubt they are creators if they aren't gaming at 4K. Either by a 30 series or wait for RDNA 3 if you don't want to wait to see what the rest of the 40 series product stack looks like.

AIB cards are seriously $400 more than the Founder's Edition 4090. Looks like EVGA picked the right time to get out then. Nobody is going to pick an AIB over a Founder's Edition if that's the difference in cost. You know that there's not much margin in that, so it's all R&D. Nvidia controlling its own supply rears its head here.

Id rather a small quiet, and cool card for 1440p/60 than a card thats as large as my xbox 360.

Got mine from Microcenter of Dallas, there was 150 in stock. Got one of the last few units of the Zotac Amp Extreme Airo.

They cancelled the 4090ti because it melts itself.

Unless youve got a 4K set up there is no reason to get one of those cards lol. The gains are great between the 3090 and 4090, but its not worth it in terms of fps in gaming. Better to wait a couple years for a 50 series.

Yeah, I'm going to wait for the 5000 series. I need a bigger performance jump to justify these prices (previously jumped from 1080 to 3080).

Lol no. I have a 3090 that will last me for years so I'll be waiting for at least 2 more gens depending on the jump in tech

Why wouldn't it make sense? It went from GTX 8 series to 9 series to 10 series to the RTX 20 series. Why would it be absurd to think RTX would go from 20 to 21? Before the successor of the 20 series came out, people were speculating on whether the 2180 or 3080 was next. In my opinion, jumping by 1000 should have been reserved only for huge generational leaps like GTX to RTX. But I mean I don't care THAT much. Was just stating a mild annoyance.

Honestly, the 4090 is the most reasonably priced of the lot, at least relative to the previous generation of cards. Adjusting for inflation, this is pretty much what the 3090 cost in 2020.
