They view magic as a (sham) imitation of their God's power. Only God should have that (kind of) power.

It makes sense to be afraid of it, from their point of view.

It is also common for the Devil/Satan/Antithesis to God/Holiness to possess powers that look/seem like magic you see in popular culture. So to have humans performing that kind of power is to glorify Satan's abilities or some such

My parents said that it was real witchcraft and that JK Rowlands was a real witch. I never questioned them. And never watched the movies. That kind of stuff always scared me.
