I must be missing something here.

As a guy, i dont want to play as an ugly fat man. I like to play as a handsome or buff man like Nathan Drake or Kiryu. Take GTA5 for example, after beating the game, my most played character is Franklin. Not fucking Trevor.

The last thing i want is to play a character looking exactly like myself.

Do women even want to play as these characters? Or is this a message for the male gamers?

This is pandering to people who don't even play games in the first place.

A lot of gamers are really self-centered and get really touchy over stuff like this because they somehow see it as an attack or criticism on themselves.

It doesn't help when they purposefully use disingenuous clickbait titles like the one here to try and get more #Gamers angry.

I like how they are insulting their appearances by implying they aren't normal.

There truly aren't enough "normal" looking people in media, real or animated. Ugly or fat people are always relegated to small side roles, probably as some sort of comic relief or minor villain.

@Cobra1010 You missed the negative impact caused by society's rejection of certain types (ugly fat) in favor of idolizing others (handsome or buff). An increase in representation is not necessarily about "women" or "male gamers" but rather breaking beauty stereotypes.
