You can dislike dogs for plenty more valid reasons than just trauma.

-Clingy and needy as hell
-They are messy, slobbery, gross
-High maintenance for groomers
-Noisy
-Destructive

Granted not all dog types fall into some of those categories. But then many do.

I am completely okay with this. I've never had a dog and I don't plan on getting one in the future.

I love dogs so we're not compatible, sorry. If you had told me on our first date it would have saved us both a lot of time.

That's fine but she would have to concede that some dogs are nice though.

Some people seem to be overly obsessed with dogs given this reaction.

"You have trauma regarding dogs from your childhood? And so you respectfully tell me that you understandably dislike them as a result? How dare you be prejudiced!"

Let her know that it's cool but probably should just be friends if she were up for that as I'm around dogs almost all the time.

I have a dog, and I have no issues with this take.

Dogs, no matter how well groomed and bathed, and no matter how often you clean, make your house a "Dog House".

They are also a lot of responsibility. It becomes a hassle if you want to travel, or even just not be home for a day.

My wife disliked cats (possibly even hated) when we first met, but my old girl Stella melted her heart. Things can change.

This is fine, I like dogs but I don't really want one myself and it's not exactly a crime to not like them even without a specific reason like this.

These are all reasons not to get a dog though. That's different from straight up disliking them.

Like for instance, you're visiting a family friend who has a big floofy golden retriever. It's fucking cute and happy and fun and soft, as dogs are.

Who (trauma aside) goes into that situation and says "ehhhh I don't like dogs, I'd rather not go or can you lock the dog in the other room or something"

Would honestly be my dream girl. I dont hate dogs either, but I have absolutely zero interest in keeping one as a pet. And I feel like one of my biggest dating hurdles is finding a girl who isnt a dOg MoM
