A 20-year-old woman inside a police car parked on railroad tracks north of Platteville was injured when a train struck the vehicle, Colorado officials reported. A Colorado Bureau of Investigation news release said a Platteville police officer investigating a road rage incident stopped the woman at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, near U.S. 85 and Weld County Road 38. The woman stopped just past the railroad tracks and the officer stopped behind her on the tracks, the release said. Two Fort Lupton police officers arrived and they detained the woman, a Greeley resident, who was suspected of having a firearm, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation reported. Officers placed the woman in the back of the Platteville officers patrol car and went to search her vehicle, the release said.

A train traveling northbound then hit the police car, the agency said. The woman was hospitalized with a significant brain injury the Colorado State Patrol told KMGH. No officers were hurt in the crash. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Colorado State Patrol and Fort Lupton police are investigating.

That's some serious mustache twirling cartoon villain energy they have. Charge them with attempted murder (assuming she survives, murder if she doesn't), destruction of police property and any crimes that might exist related to interfering with the railroad/obstructing trains or anything like that for good measure.

Colorado PD has definitely been working its way up the worst PD list.

You can hear a train coming from miles away. The cops decided to ignore every single rattle and alarm and just ditched the car on the tracks and left that woman to die. It's a miracle she's even alive, though with significant brain trauma what kind of life does she even have left? Those pigs are monsters.

I hope they shot at the locomotive for reckless endangerment.

I initially thought "Well maybe she Karen'd them in just the wrong place" but the girl is only 20, she really isn't old enough to be a Karen." But then I thought like, what if she actually was such a fucking awful Karen while despite being that young? Maybe it was a kind of a "would you strangle baby hitler?" situation for them fearful of what she would be like in 10 or 20 years.

"Suspected of having a firearm" should not be a valid defense here.

Charge them with attempted homicide and if she dies, charge them with murder.

True. But they are assholes that cover their own asses. When they do shit like this they always have some story they can hide behind.

It's just a really weird way to kill someone, because you can't cover it up, and while I am sure they will definitely try to go the "accident" route, you just can't call it an accident either. Doomtrain doesn't just pop out of thin air and blast her before they could react. A crime of passion is the only thing that makes sense. They didn't give a shit about how impossible this would be to cover up.

Trains don't just pop up out of nowhere, and if they were on a roadway then the signals would have started flashing long before the train got there. Imagine how long these guys would have had to stand around, knowing full well that a train was coming

just for the hell of it i looked it up. it does appear to be unmarked, no lights/gate, but it's a large flat clear area with a pretty big straightaway in either direction. so they should have had a lot of time to move the car. it's sounding like this was a malicious act

Is there police protocol for something like this? Drivers ed for regular civilians always harped that you should NEVER park on train tracks

This seems like it would have been a gag in the first couple or three seasons of South Park.
