There's a glitch with Bastion's ultimate that's pretty funny, it allows it to fire as many times as you want. But honestly the funniest thing is even with the glitch the ult still isn't very good.

First time I've played in probably, 2 almost 3 years?

I had a good time. It feels quicker paced? I don't know if that's because it's down to 5v5 or if the tweaked anything in the shooting/health/dps stuff but it feels fun to play.

Don't know if I'll put as many hours into, but this is probably be something I'll play for a bit more.

You can't earn OW1 currency anymore. You can buy skins like that in the Shop with coins, which has a limited selection that changes every week.

You actually get 60 gold coins a week if you do your weekly challenges.

Since skins cost about 2000 coins that means you can buy a skin every 33 weeks or so!

So if you work hard you can buy one skin every 8 months.

For the new characters there are a ton of cosmetics you can buy with your saved Overwatch 1 credits.

But yeah, the shop itself is pretty terrible. I wonder if there will be special bonus coins available to get in the future, like for events and stuff. Because the amount you get for the Weekly challenges isn't good enough for the shop. I think I'll be satisfied with what you get in the Battle Pass, but nothing else.

The shop, BP and challenge section altogether are terrible. The only reward as a free player is getting to play the game for the most part

Pretty sure comp rankings are bugged. Everyone is starting at bronze 5. I was Diamond on my peak, and got bronze 5.

Also I'm pretty sure people who were in grand master were also starting at bronze 5.

That makes more (less) sense

They said there was going to be a minor comp rating reset. Both because the game meta and strategy has changed, and because they expect a large number of players at the moment to be returning ones who have not played for a while. In theory the way it works is you're more likely to be placed lower than you were before, but you should be able to rank up quickly to return to your appropriate rank... if you're capable of adapting, that is...

My idea was that if you only care about getting the new character from the Battle Pass then you can pay that with only the free coins, since a new character will be released every two seasons* and if you do all the Weeklies you'll have enough coins for a full pass every two seasons as well. On the other hand, if you want every pass then doing all the Weeklies will essentially get you half off each pass which... doesn't seem that bad? I guess if you never, ever want to spend any money on the game then that sucks, but if I equate spending that money to the $40 Overwatch 1 cost then it's like 8 passes before you match that cost, or 16 months worth of content. Depends on how you feel about that.

But I still hope they have opportunities to get bonus coins. And the shop just blows and can't be factored into that.

I don't know how Fortnite nor COD do it but this is my first experience with Passes, well, Fall guys and the Multiversus beta were, but I didn't think those were too bad either (at least from what I remember of MV)

Fortnite gives you more coins than you spend on the BP I believe. Like the BP costs 1000 vbucks ($10) and they give you something like 1250 or 1500 vbucks for completing the whole battlepass.

So not only can you buy the next season's pass but you get a few extra vbucks left over.

Some people are hoping that the 2nd OW battle pass will give enough coins to pay for itself but that seems really unlikely.

Not only that. They put a little bit of the currency on the free track every season so if you dont want to pay at all you can play for a few seasons and save it up. I ended up doing that, having dipped my toe in a few times and never using the free bucks, and last season when the featured pass-exclusive characters included Indiana Jones I went ahead and gave in.

This is great news. I can't play for like a week so hopefully all the better players who got the bug will rank out and I can play with actual bronze 5s for a few games.

whatthe fuck they made Doomfist a tank and took away his uppercut fuck this game

doing death match with Doomfist was my favorite thing

also the change makes it look like Ive played roughly twice as much time as a tank in my career profile than is actually accurate, since it seems to have retroactively counted my Doomfist time as tank time

(I have 327 hours played total, 47 of those hours were Doomfist. Next most played is Lucio at 28 hours, but Im pretty sure thats hugely inflated by Lucioball, so the second most legitimate hours is Solider with 22. I really liked Doomfisting.)

On the other hand, Orisa was one of my least favorites to play because she just felt so slow and her weapon felt shitty, but now she feels awesome. Giving her this spear was brilliant.

A lot of stuff is still bugged including how long youve played the game/roles/characters. I wish I could say I was having more fun with OW2, but uh I dont really care to play it at all already other than with friends. Dont like Push, dont like 5v5 other than no randoms when with friends and I guess overall all I really like is that the game added new characters and some of the new maps are fine. If the first event shows virtually all event loot is premium only Ill have even less reason to care.

Almost all hard cc has been taken out or toned down.

Cassidy flash bang was replaced with a sticky bomb, for example

As someone who mainly played Mystery Heroes to get weekly arcade wins in OW1 I'm not finding much of a reason to boot this game up either.

The battle pass is not a good motivator and the coin flip that is competitive games is too much of a gamble. Am I going to wait in queue for 10 minutes to get stomped or stomp the other team? Are either options actually fun?

I'm sure this would be fun if I had a group of 4 other people to play with though.

im having an alright time playing unranked matches, but legit 300 of my 327 hours of OW1 were spent in Arcade mode. Most of the Battlepass challenges require playing in the normal queue stuff, so its a bummer that the reward incentive has been moved away from the modes I really liked.

Yeah and even if the arcade counted toward the battle pass, the rewards in the pass suck anyway. Even if you pay to unlock the premium stuff it's like 4 or 5 skins that aren't very good. Just doesn't feel worth putting my time into Overwatch anymore!

Activision doesnt seem to want anyone to either considering they just want money for anything in OW2. You can tell just how rushed out this was and overall OW2 was a net loss content wise. They thought they could keep people playing exclusively for the gameplay and prayed they would buy out the shop, but I havent seen a single person with an OW2 coin cosmetic yet and the game is as divisive as ever with regards to whether its even any good. Support players are just straight up leaving which means games will take longer to find.

Just as a note, Mystery Heroes is still in the game, but it's in under quick play rather than arcade now.

It's funny, because I feel the exact opposite. Having the Challenges triggers the neurons in my brain to want to complete them and has made me play more than I would have normally. I guess it's debatable whether it's worth unlocking stuff in the Battle Pass though. I don't really care for most of it, but then again I never cared for the stuff in the Loot Boxes anyway. It's really hard for me to put a value figure into stuff like that.

The challenges dont even reward anything worth the time. BP Exp for a BP full of nothing if you dont pay for it or such a pathetic amount of coins you can grab 1 legendary skin a year. Not even worth worrying about tbh

Okay, I saw someone using the Mythic skin in a game today and it's actually pretty sick. Almost makes me want to be a Genji main.

I like the new voice, and the new Ultimate call out. He glows during his Ultimate and it's cool. I hope the future Mythic skins for characters I play will have special features too.

it's weird because completing challenges is literally the last thing I care about in this game and if I had to play ANY game with only the base skins it would not bother me at all

it still blows my mind that people will log in and play a minimum amount of games, or even just get a login bonus, (in any game really) for something that doesn't affect gameplay at all.

It's kind of hard to explain, but it's not really about the rewards it's the fact that there is a "goal" that needs to be completed that drives me. I mean, I'd play the game anyway, but having something to strive for makes it more fun. It's like the same reason people go for Achievements in video games even though those don't have any tangible rewards.

Kiriko is available in Ranked now and I kind of feel like I want to main her, not because I particularly want to, but I feel like I'm better with her than other players and I don't want them to insta-lock her and play her terribly...

Theres no goal if you already owned OW1 and didnt buy the BP though. Theres no progression of any kind outside of Competitive and no real reward for anything either. There will be a 50~ grind goal in December for the new hero, but thats not something anyone is looking forward to either when it wouldve been immediately available for free day 1 in OW1

I'm really liking Lucio in this game. I finally got The Floor is Lava achievement today. I've been wrecking with him.

It's a double XP weekend right now btw.

The new Halloween event starts on Tuesday. Still very light on the details, but they're promising it will include the true sequel to Junkenstein's Revenge; it's not just going to be another variant thing. I'm kind of hoping it will serve as like a sneak peek at the new PvP campaign, but that might be too much to expect.

I'm also wondering how they'll handle the event cosmetic content and stuff. I bet it won't be well received. Although I'd want to remind people that while there are so many who say they miss lootboxes, the first OW1 event was pretty terrible; you couldn't buy any of the event cosmetics with credits back then. I also think people forgot just how bad the drop rates were in the lootboxes for the first two years or so before they adjusted them... Basically, I'm wondering how they'll design the way you collect event items in OW2, and if it's really bad if they'll change it later like they did with the past game...

If they're still just copying other game's monetization then they'll probably have event currency you get for playing games. Most of the things you can but with the event currency will be titles and dumb stuff like that. Maybe one or two skins for a crazy amount of currency. Probably grind for the entire event to unlock a skin.

But even that model is probably still too generous for OW2.

My expectations are so low the Reaper apology skin is likely gonna be the only reward outside of Junkenstein challenge sprays. I dont expect them to give away anything more than that for free seeing how much they want for all cosmetics in this

So I've figured out the best way for me to complete the weekly Arcade wins is to go into Deathmatch and pick Rein. I've never had more fun stomping entire lobbies with BD Rein's giant hammer.

Surprise charging into people, solo shattering the person who killed me last, nailing firestrike kills on people trying to flee from me... it's amazing.
