Back when moves were split into physical or special based on type, the easiest way to remember them was that the special types are the Eeveelutions + Dragon. Fairy would almost certainly be special type too, so it still fits. DarkRoast 09/12/22 6:35:52 PM #64:	Umbreon suffers greatly from an extremely weird combination of poor defensive typing (weakness to Bug is a big deal in a U-Turn heavy meta) and entirely defensive stats. Pure grass type is terrible both offensively and defensively, so Leafeon has a tough deal already. Flareon having high attack but mediocre SpA is really crappy for a pure fire type (and even worse prior to Gen IV). This did get better with later generations, but he's still not the best fire type option in most situations. Glaceon is way too slow for what is almost objectively the worst defensive type in the game. Vaporeon being a bulky water type makes him overall quite good. Jolteon is fast and strong, and the perfect element for revenge killing and sweeping. Sylveon is good solely because Fairy is a rare and highly valuable typing. Flying/Electric is one of the best defensive typings in the game, plus he's strong AND fast AND has good offensive coverage AND is surprisingly bulky AND has Roost lol. A Zapdos with leftovers (defensive) or Life Orb (offensive) can be an enormous pain in the ass With both Static and Discharge, he can paralyze basically everyone other than Ground and Electric types. That makes him even more annoying. I found good luck with Espeon using her as a counter setup lead. She has magic bounce which prevents all status moves and entry hazards.
