There was some talk on the discord about this yesterday. For me it's easily Cynthia, but I haven't played every gen and I know there's love for Blue and maybe Leon or Lance. Anyway, what do you all think? Vote based on whatever metric you want. Hopefully I didn't miss anyone >_>

About half of them are pretty good, but I don't have enough of a favorite to passionately rank one of them above the rest.

But I can say that the answer is not Leon.

Cynthia and then Blue and then I'm pretty whatever about the rest.

Blue is the only Pokemon character I'm actually attached to, but Lance's little dragon outfit is adorable.

Cynthia easily. She's present enough in her generation, but not overly and obnoxiously so (looking at you Leon). She has an iconic main Pokemon that is actually from the generation. Cool character design, awesome music before and during the fight, and the fight itself is one of the tougher ones up to that point (+ diverse > type-themed champion).

was playing pokemon masters ex for a while a few months ago up until my phone crashed some day and i reinstalled and realised i had lost all my data

anyway iris is pretty good and the 2nd cutest trainer in unova after rosa in that tbh. am a fan of how they handled blue, wallace and cynthia in that too, esp blue who is sort of an underdog compared to red and leaf but still badass in his own right

Cynthia is possibly my favorite boss fight in the entire series, so that helps.

His Dragonite still killed a thug with a Hyper Beam though.

Lance is just so fucking awful as a champion. Half his team is the same Pokemon repeated, and he literally does not use a single Pokemon from the new generation. And that's already a flaw of the 2nd gen games, how poorly represented the new Pokemon are, so he just compounds it by having the champion be the same old shit, taken to the next level by how much "same old shit" already describes his team even in a vacuum due to his triple Dragonite junk. He has minimal character, pretty minimal role in the games for a guy that gets two of them, and a repetitive team that doesn't feature anything new and interesting.

Alder has a great theme though.

As someone who hasn't played gen 5, I do not recognise Alder at all. I'm familiar with all of the others, even Diantha who seems utterly unremarkable, but I've never heard anyone even mention poor Alder before!

And yeah Lance's team sucks, he has a neat design but you need more than that to be a good champion!

Iris probably has the best battle music of the bunch.

Lance wasn't initially designed to be champ, cut him some slack.

Blue is the correct answer though

I don't hate Cynthia, cool character design and everything, but I also want her destroyed at all times.
